INFERNAL GEOMETRY AND THE LEFT-HAND PATH:
The Magical System of the Nine Angles
by Toby Chappell (Author), Stephen E. Flowers Ph.D. (Afterword), Michael A. Aquino (Foreword)
Paperback: 336 pages
Publisher: Inner Traditions (May 21, 2019)
List Price: $24.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
A comprehensive guide to the history and practice of Angular Magic

Details the development of the magical system of the Nine Angles by the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set, as well as its internal body, the Order of the Trapezoid

Analyzes the 3 key rites of Angular Magic: Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, the Ceremony of the Nine Angles, and the Call to Cthulhu

Explores historical influences on Angular Magic, including Pythagorean number mysticism, John Dee’s Enochian magic, and the writings of H. P. Lovecraft

Includes practical examples, daily practices, and guidance on creating your own rituals

Revealing the magical uses of number and geometry as tools for introspection, self-development, and creating change in both the inner and outer worlds, Toby Chappell explores the rites, history, and potent practices of Angular Magic and Infernal Geometry, the Left-Hand Path of Sacred Geometry.

Focusing on the advanced magical system of the Nine Angles, he details the system’s development by the early Church of Satan and later the Temple of Set, as well as its internal body, the Order of the Trapezoid. He shows how the system first emerged in the Ceremony of the Nine Angles, written by Michael Aquino and published in Anton Szandor LaVey’s The Satanic Rituals. He explores historical influences on Angular Magic, including Pythagorean number mysticism, John Dee’s Enochian magic, the theories of William Mortensen, and, most importantly, the writings of H. P. Lovecraft as well as other contributors to his Cthulhu mythos.

The author analyzes the 3 key rites of Angular Magic: Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, the Ceremony of the Nine Angles, and the Call to Cthulhu, expanding upon them to demonstrate how readers can craft their own rituals. He examines the Nine Angles individually, detailing their keywords, powers, and related deities, and explains how each can be used in magical practices and as part of an ongoing initiatory process. He offers practical examples, including use of Angular Magic in divination, sigils, and magical symbols, and guidance on creating your own practices--a core component of the ever-evolving Left-Hand Path.

Offering a self-directed path of magic and empowerment, previously unavailable to those outside the Temple of Set, Chappell shows how the Nine Angles must be worked with and experienced personally in order to effect true transformation and change.

Review:
Toby Chappell has revealed a pragmatic, powerful, and magical secret of the Western Left-Hand Path, according to a strict and hidden calendar. Great forces are made available for the talented and daring magician who uses this book. Greater forces still are unleashed upon the sleeping world with its publication. At times the face of the serpent is seen among men. This is such a time. This erudite and practical book is such a veil render. This is literally a moment when Western magic will be changed forever.” (Don Webb, author of Overthrowing the Old Gods and coauthor of Set: The Outsider)

Our existence is built out of 11 dimensions, as Benoît B. Mandelbrot (1924-2010) has shown, but humankind is only aware of 4--space (3D) and time (4D). The research of Mandelbrot was paradigm-shifting and gave birth to chaos mathematics and the fractal theories. To most people interested in these fields, it stays as a theory, but for the true magician it is a call that there are 7 dimensions unexplored. These unexplored dimensions are dealt with in H. P. Lovecraft’s horror fiction, which echoes a genuine description of the worlds beyond the Newtonian laws of physics--dark unknown worlds that Toby Chappell, the author of Infernal Geometry and the Left-Hand Path, gives us access to through a system developed by the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set but that has a history that goes back in time to the mystery cults of ancient days.” (Thomas Karlsson, Ph.D., author of Nightside of the Runes: Uthark, Adulruna,, and The Gothic Cabbala,)

About the Author:
Toby Chappell is a musician, writer, and lecturer on Left-Hand Pathtopics. A member of the Temple of Set since 2000, he has served since 2015 as the Grand Master of the Order of the Trapezoid within the Temple. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

GRIMOIRE OF ALEISTER CROWLEY:
Group Magick Rituals
by Rodney Orpheus (Author), Aleister Crowley (Author), John Dee et al (Author), Lon Milo DuQuette (Foreword)
Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Weiser Books (June 1, 2019)
List Price: $29.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Group ritual has been a cornerstone of spiritual practice since time immemorial, yet its history and importance have often been overlooked by occultists of the modern age. This book is the first comprehensive presentation of group-oriented rites for modern magicians inspired by the works of Aleister Crowley. It contains rituals written by Crowley for his own magic circles, many of them unpublished during his lifetime, plus rare ancient texts that were Crowley's own inspiration.

The rituals are newly edited and explained by Rodney Orpheus, who brings to this volume decades of experience in performing and teaching Aleister Crowley's rituals within Crowley's magical order Ordo Templi Orientis. He introduces each ritual with a clear overview, setting each in its historical context and explaining its function and mode of operation, and includes detailed notes on the setting and performance of each one.

Whether absolute beginner or seasoned expert, magicians of all paths will find this volume to be an eminently workable and extremely powerful grimoire spanning centuries from ancient Mithraic and Bacchanalian rites, Goetia, and Gnosticism, right up to present day Crowleyan invocations and sexual magick.

Reviews:
"With this book, Rodney Orpheus has produced the most significant Thelemic book written this century." --David Rankine, author of The Goetia of Dr. Rudd, The Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet etc. (Reviews)

"Eminently readable and (most importantly) usable, Grimoire of Aleister Crowley will keep many a magical group busy for years to come." --Richard Kaczinski, author of Perdurabo (Reviews)

"The Grimoire of Aleister Crowley is sure to become a modern classic." --Sorita D'Este, author of Practical Qabalah Magick & Hekate Liminal Rites

"There are very few individuals living today who are qualified by education and experience to write this book, and even fewer with the talent and communication skills to bring it all to life on the printed page. Brother Orpheus is the incarnation of both these aspects of genius. Whether he is expanding upon classic Crowley rituals or creating and developing his own Thelemic ceremonies, the magician reader can be confident he or she is in good hands." --Lon Milo DuQuette, author of Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot (Reviews)

"Rodney Orpheus, the modern Minstrel of Thelema, is back with another vibrant, creative, and irreverent effort that is sure to please and enlighten." --James Wasserman, author of To Perfect This Feast: A Performance Commentary on the Gnostic Mass (Reviews)

About the Author(s)
Rodney Orpheus is a practicing magician, an established musician, and a member of the band The Cassandra Complex, one of the most important electroindustrial bands of the past decade. He lives in London and travels extensively.
Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) was the most widely read author in 20th-century occultism. He single-handedly redefined magic as a field of inquiry and endeavor through his books and the order that he led--the A.A. and the O.T.O. He is the author several books including The Book of the Law, 777 & Other Qabalistic Writings, and The Book of Thoth.
Lon Milo DuQuette has been involved with occult studies since the late 60s, and has become an acknowledged and widely recognized authority within the world of modern occultism. His previous publications include Magick of Thelema, The Tarot of Ceremonial Magick, Angels, Demons & Gods of the New Millennium, and the humorous, biographical My Life with the Spirits.

LIVING THELEMA:
A Practical Guide to Attainment in Aleister Crowley's System of Magick
by David Shoemaker
Paperback: 278 pages
Publisher: Anima Solis Books; 1 edition (August 4, 2013)
List Price: $19.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
The system of spiritual attainment developed by Aleister Crowley is notoriously challenging in its scope. Adapted from the popular podcast segment of the same name, Living Thelema brings a welcome approachability to Crowley's material, without diminishing the depth of the system. The author focuses on the practical and experiential aspects of the path of Thelema, allowing the reader to grasp the true transformative power of the system.

Beginners and advanced practitioners alike will find much useful advice here, as Shoemaker brings his characteristic down-to-earth style to bear on topics such as ritual and meditation practices, sex magick, astral projection, psychotherapy for magicians, the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel, and that pinnacle of attainment known as the crossing of the Abyss.

The author's background as a practicing psychotherapist allows an entirely unique fusion of esoteric wisdom and cognitive science. Living Thelema is an invaluable handbook for any modern magician.

Here's what other prominent Thelemic authors have to say about Living Thelema:

"Dr. Shoemaker's Living Thelema is in my opinion the most thorough and understandable exposition of the underlying theories and the practical applications of the spiritual disciplines of Thelema currently available to the public. Serious students of the magick of Aleister Crowley in general, and of the A.'. A.'. in particular, will not find a more masterful and authoritative work on the subject issuing from a post-Crowley commentator. My highest recommendation for this landmark work.”—Lon Milo DuQuette, renowned author of The Magick of Aleister Crowley, Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot, and many other titles.

"In this entertaining and (dare I say it?) lively book, David Shoemaker reminds us that Thelema is not just a philosophy or a study, but a spiritual practice. From applied 'how to' advice to thought-provoking 'how about' posers, Dr. Shoemaker offers his personal take—informed by twenty years of walking the talk, along with his incisiveness as a professional therapist—on how to get the most out of the fundamental Thelemic practices of yoga and ritual, both inside and outside of the temple." —Richard Kaczynski, author of Forgotten Templars: The Untold Origins of Ordo Templi Orientis and Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley.

WITCHCRAFT AND SECRET SOCIETIES OF RURAL ENGLAND:
The Magic of Toadmen, Plough Witches, Mummers, and Bonesmen
by Nigel Pennick
Paperback: 224 pages
Publisher: Destiny Books; Reprint edition (April 9, 2019)
List Price: $16.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
A comprehensive account of the rich folk culture preserved in the rural secret societies of the British Isles

Describes the secret rites, ceremonies, and initiation rituals of guilds and rural fraternities such as the Shoemakers, Horsemen, Toadmen, Mummers, and Bonesmen

Explains their use of masks, black face, and other disguises to avoid persecution

Draws not only on scholarly research but also the author’s personal contacts within these still living traditions

Centuries ago the remote, marshy plains of eastern England--the Fens--were drained to create agricultural land. The Fens remained isolated up until the nineteenth century, and it was this very isolation that helped preserve the ancient traditions of this area, traditions ruthlessly eradicated elsewhere in the British Isles. These magical folk traditions also owe their survival to secret rural societies, from craft guilds and trade unions to Morris dancers and village bands.

Exploring the folk customs and magical traditions of guilds and rural fraternities such as the Shoemakers and Horsemen and the secrets guarded by the Free Gardeners, Witches, Toadmen, and Bonesmen, Nigel Pennick shows how the common working people of the Fens belonged to secret societies based on their specific trade. He details the hidden aspects of rural life that most historians ignore--the magical current that flowed through the lives of working people--and describes the secret rites, ceremonies, oaths, and initiation rituals of the guilds and fraternities to which the folk belonged.

Drawing not only on scholarly research but also his personal contacts within these still living traditions, Pennick explains their use of masks, black face, and other disguises to avoid persecution and describes how wise woman healers and witches in rural villages were sought-after for their remedies. He shares the secrets of the toad-bone rite, which gave the Toadman control over animals and members of the opposite sex, and explores the guardian spirits thought to inhabit the Fens, including those of the Wild Hunt.

Providing insight into a world that has largely disappeared, one whose magic still echoes in lore and legend, Pennick shows that the rites, customs, and ceremonies of guilds and rural fraternities connect individuals to a wider community and, through collective action, to the power of Nature and the Cosmos.

About the Author:
Nigel Pennick is an authority on ancient belief systems, traditions, runes, and geomancy and has traveled and lectured extensively in Europe and the United States. He is the author and illustrator of more than 50 books, including The Pagan Book of Days. The founder of the Institute of Geomantic Research and the Library of the European Tradition, he lives near Cambridge, England.

BACKWOODS WITCHCRAFT:
Conjure & Folk Magic from Appalachia
by Jake Richards (Author), Starr Casas (Foreword)
Paperback: 240 pages
Publisher: Weiser Books; 1 edition (June 1, 2019)
List Price: $18.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
In Backwoods Witchcraft, Jake Richards offers up a folksy stew of family stories, lore, omens, rituals, and conjure crafts that he learned from his great-grandmother, his grandmother, and his grandfather, a Baptist minister who Jake remembers could "rid someone of a fever with an egg or stop up the blood in a wound." The witchcraft practiced in Appalachia is very much a folk magic of place, a tradition that honors the seen and unseen beings that inhabit the land as well as the soil, roots, and plant life.

The materials and tools used in Appalachia witchcraft are readily available from the land. This "grounded approach" will be of keen interest to witches and conjure folk regardless of where they live. Readers will be guided in how to build relationships with the spirits and other beings that dwell around them and how to use the materials and tools that are readily available on the land where one lives.

This book also provides instructions on how to create a working space and altar and make conjure oils and powders. A wide array of tried-and-true formulas are also offered for creating wealth, protecting one from gossip, spiritual cleansing, and more.

About the Author:
While Jake Richards doesn't hold initiations, titles, or degrees, he clearly does hold his Appalachian heritage close to his blood and bones. He has practiced Appalachian folk magic for almost a decade and teaches classes on the subject in Jonesborough, Tennessee, where he owns Little Chicago Conjure, a supplier of Appalachian folk magic supplies and ingredients.
