NEW WINGS FOR DAEDALUS
Wilhelm Reich, His Theory and Techniques
by Israel Regardie (Author), MobiusFrame (Author), Calvin Iwema (Author), Fernando P (Author), Nicholas Tharcher (Preface)
Paperback: 312 pages
Publisher: Original Falcon Press, LLC, The (September 6, 2018)
List Price: $24.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Though Francis Israel Regardie (1907–1985) is best known for his writings on the Western magical/mystical system known as the Golden Dawn, that is not how he made his living. He was a Doctor of Chiropractic under which license he practiced the psychotherapeutic methods of Wilhelm Reich, M.D. (1897–1957). Reichian Therapy was a revolutionary approach to dealing with psychological issues. Reich, who had once been an associate of Sigmund Freud, had developed important extensions to psychological theory and the therapy methods of the day. But in a clinical setting he and others were continually faced with the intractability of many patients against the therapeutic methods then in use. He came to believe that this “armoring” was not simply a “head issue,” but was elaborated in actual physical armoring of the musculature. In time he developed a novel, and highly successful, approach to psychotherapy: rather than just talk with his patients, he manipulated and attacked the muscular armor directly. But today we see almost nothing of his methods. First written in the 1950s and updated through the 1970s, this never-before-published tour de force provides a masterful description of both Reich’s theory and clinical practice. It is an indispensable tool for anyone interested in one of the most effective psychotherapeutic methods even devised.

CONJURING HARRIET “MAMA MOSES” TUBMAN
(and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad)
by Witchdoctor Utu
Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Weiser Books (February 1, 2019)
List Price: $18.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
The spirits of Harriet Tubman, John Brown, and other heroes of the Underground Railroad guide readers on a magical path to healing, empowerment, and liberation.

The historical role that magic and soothsaying played in the Underground Railroad has long been ignored out of fear it might diminish the legacy of Harriet Tubman and other heroes of that time. However, Harriet Tubman was a Conjure woman who relied on her dreams and visionary experiences to lead her followers to freedom. Revered as "Mama Moses," she, along with John Brown, Mary Ellen Pleasant, and others have been venerated since their deaths. They now have emerged in the 21st century as the pantheon of a new and increasingly popular African-Diaspora tradition.

Written by Witchdoctor Utu, founder of the Niagara Voodoo Shrine, this is the first book devoted to the spiritual and magical tradition of the Underground Railroad. In it, the author conjures the spirits of the Underground Railroad, their continued connection to each other, and their "tracks" still leading to freedom from obstacles, bondage, and trouble and tribulations of all kinds. It is a spiritual tradition that is broadly accessible and inclusive, much like the historical Underground Railroad itself, whose participants were black, white, and Native American, male and female, Christians, Jews, Quakers, animists, secret devotees of forbidden African religions, and free thinkers of all kinds.

This revelatory book teaches readers how to invoke the blessings of Mama Moses and her followers, access their healing inspiration and magic powers, and seek their own path to freedom.

Editorial Reviews

"It not often that black history and magick are given the attention and respect they deserve. Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad is an incredible work whose time has come. Witchdoctor Utu and I have been spiritual family for almost two decades. We have been together inside ritual and out, and I truly can't find enough wonderful things to say about him. His first book is stunning and not to be ignored." --Lilith Dorsey, author of Voodoo and Afro-Caribbean Paganism and Love Magic

"We are in the midst of perilous times often mired in indecision and pessimism as we traverse a world that has become unfamiliar. Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad points out a spiritual North Star that may offer direction to your path and lift up your heart. Harriet Tubman is an elevated spirit, one of the Mighty Dead, that can be called upon, venerated, and who acts as an example for changing the world for better. This book offers a working system that blends and acknowledges the Christian, African, and folk magic traditions that are the natural home for those called to work with Mama Moses. She does not rest in peace, she rises in power." --Ivo Dominguez, author of Keys to Perception, Spirit Speak, and numerous other books

"Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad represents an ambitious undertaking. It is a thorough attempt at wedding the history, legends, as well as the ethics and motivations of the abolitionist-inspired Underground Railroad and its primary figure and force, Harriot Tubman, together with a practical system of Hoodoo. As with any such attempt, it will please some more than others. It is worthy of serious consideration, as, to my knowledge, no one has attempted anything on such a scale, nor attempted to combine what is an ancestral veneration with the practice of African-American folk magic, aka Hoodoo, in as much detail ever. This book deserves to be on your reading list!" --Manuel Congo, global ethnologist and author of the Lucumi Tarot

"I have practiced my particular brand of spirit communication for many years. During that time, I have been blessed to meet and interview several people whom I believe have left a mark on the world. Witchdoctor Utu is one such person and he has written one of the best, well rounded tomes on the topic in recent years. It is important that the reader grasps not just the physical practice of working with spirits but also the history behind those practices. Utu has achieved a balance seldom found. In Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad, he has married the practice of mysticism and religious belief. He also goes on to present the importance of the ancestors who brought these beliefs with them as they traveled along the Underground Railroad. Most importantly Utu has a deep-set passion to spread the story of the life of Harriet Tubman or Mama Moses, as she was known. Considered one of the architects of the liberation of African slaves during the time of political strife that preceded and endured during the American Civil War, her story alone is worth discovering within the pages of this book. Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad is a practical manual of instruction giving both the adept and novice fresh knowledge to add to the ever-growing need for Conjure in today's world. This is a text that should grace every metaphysical worker's bookshelf." --Rev. Timothy Shaw, Spiritualist minister

"In this rich, riveting and inspiring guide, Utu Witchdoctor opens the door to a powerhouse of spiritual help from Mama Moses and her followers. Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad is an excellent book for the true seeker who wishes to participate in the grace, beauty and mystery at the heart of spiritual work." --Rosemary Ellen Guiley, author of Guide to Psychic Power

"Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad is undoubtedly the most important book of the decade. Whether you read it for the history, for the conjure, or to honor the brave souls whose stories are told within…read it! What lies between its covers will not only enrich your life, but forever nourish your spirit." --Dorothy Morrison, author of Utterly Wicked and The Craft

"Presented in an engaging manner, Witchdoctor Utu's impressive new book, Conjuring Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the Spirits of the Underground Railroad, is an exercise not only in the spiritual elevation of heroic ancestors, but also in the elevation of everyone who values and fights for freedom from enslavement. Utu asks us to put aside for a moment the usual history and understanding of the legendary fugitive slave turned conductor of the Underground Railroad and to focus on the empowering spiritual beliefs held by abolitionists and freedom seekers that played a vital role in their journeys to freedom. More than a grimoire of conjures, Witchdoctor Utu shares the rarely told stories of those who followed the North Star to freedom from the antebellum South to St. Catherines, Ontario, protective roots in hand. He brings to light a powerful Conjure tradition that, with a cairn and cross, guides the spiritual seeker towards a meaningful way to honor Mama Moses and the spirits of the Underground Railroad, and revere the bones of those still lying in unmarked graves." -Denise M. Alvarado, author of the Voodoo Hoodoo Spell Book, cultural anthropologist and founder of the American Rootwork Association

About the Author:
Witchdoctor Utu is best known as the founder of the world-renowned Pagan drum troupe, the Dragon Ritual Drummers. He is also the founder of the Niagara Pagan Men's Circle and the Niagara Voodoo Shrine, which is dedicated to Harriet "Mama Moses" Tubman and the spirits of the Underground Railroad. For over 20 years, Utu has been active in both the American and Canadian Pagan communities and is a highly sought-after presenter. THE OLD WOMAN AND THE CONJURORS
by Michael Slater
The New Paperback Edition - Gray Cover
(Troy Books)
144 pages extensively illustrated with drawings and photographs.
List Price: $21.50

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Troy Books is extremely pleased to welcome Michael Slater with the publication of his new book The Old Woman and the Conjurors: A Journey from Witch Scratching to the Conjurors, and the Southcottian Millenarean Movement of the Early 19th Century.

The writing of “The Old Woman and the Conjurors” began as a result of a complete co-incidence. The author, whilst researching for a friend, discovered a story in an adjacent newspaper column containing familiar names and places. It described an attack on an old woman in a Devonshire village who was suspected of being a witch. This woman turned out to be the author’s ancestor, and the subsequent investigation into her story led to the uncovering of a veritable pandemic of “witch scratching” and even murder of mostly elderly women during the period studied. The figure of the village “conjuror”, a West Country term for somebody who could remove the Evil Eye, loomed large behind the scenes along with odd connections to non-conformist and millennial religious groups. The enigmatic Exeter prophetess Joanna Southcott and her followers make an appearance along with the Leeds witch, and murderess, Mary Bateman. The long-held belief that, by drawing blood from a witch, one could negate her power was also behind the famous murder of Ann Tennant, in the Warwickshire village of Long Compton in 1875, a deed that was influenced by a cunning man who was one of the “water doctors” of Northamptonshire. This book examines the lives of these curious and often eccentric characters, their families, beliefs, clients and unfortunate victims, in an effort to shed a little more light on the more recent history of belief in the supernatural.

The author is based in Bristol, UK and has studied extensively the occult history of that region, and has presented talks on the subject for local groups. He has had other writings published in Cauldron Magazine and Scarlet Imprint anthology Mandragora and was a veteran performer with a Wiltshire group of Mummers for many years.

WORTCUNNING
A Folk Medicine Herbal & A Folk Magic Herbal
by Nigel G. Pearson
(Troy Books)
Double-fronted format book, paperback - cream colored - two front covers.
193 pages illustrated with line drawings.
List Price: $21.50

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
We are pleased to announce WortCunning – A Folk Medicine Herbal & A Folk Magic Herbal by Nigel G. Pearson.

This useful, pocket-sized book is presented as two books in one; in an intriguing ‘double-fronted’ format. The first side, A Folk Medicine Herbal, presents the medicinal herbal information and recipes as passed on to the author. He has complimented this material with the addition of the second, ‘reverse’ side of the book, A Folk Magic Herbal, giving the traditional magical uses for the same plants presented in the first.

Nigel explains the book’s back ground:

In the early 1980s, I was working with a small coven in a town on the coast of Suffolk, when one of the members mentioned that she was in touch with a family group of witches who were offering her some of their family recipes on herbal medicine. Would I be interested in seeing them and taking a copy too? Yes, I would be very interested, and so, some time later I was presented with the information that they had sent; a set of old-fashioned card-index cards, complete within their box.

I dutifully copied them all down into one of my work books and there they stayed, almost unused, for the next 35-odd years. I was never asked to keep this material secret nor, as far as I am aware, was it ever intended to be so. Therefore, I have decided to publish this material in its entirety, for two reasons. Firstly, in my work as a herbalist I am often asked if I know of a genuine, folk or traditional herbal that could be used as a working manual. Secondly, purely in the interests of preserving and disseminating this information to a wider audience of those who would find it interesting.

In the second/reverse book I have taken the exact same plants that are given in the first/reverse section of this work and have given their traditional, magical usages. This information was not included in the original notes I received from the family of witches, so I have no way of knowing how they utilised herbs for their magical practice, or indeed if they even did. However, I feel that this information should be included in a book of this type and have therefore endeavoured to fill this omission with the traditional folk-magical uses of the herbs previously described medicinally.’
