ELEMENTARY TREATISE OF OCCULT SCIENCE:

by John Michael Greer, Mark Anthony Mikituk, and Papus
Hardcover: 312 pages
Publisher: Llewellyn Publications (December 8, 2018)
List Price: $ 60.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
An Essential Work of 19th-Century French Occultism from the Leading Intellectual of the Era~

Explore Papus's Pivotal Teachings on the Secret History of the World, Symbols and Their Meanings, and the Nature of the Magical Universe~

Available in English for the First Time.

One of the most important books in the modern history of occultism, Papus's Elementary Treatise of Occult Science helped establish the shape of occult thinking and practice for decades...and its legacy as a source of spiritual philosophy continues today. Never before published in English, this work explores a fascinating interpretation of the history of the world and develops a powerful approach to decoding esoteric symbolism, a crucial skill for contemporary occultists. Papus also provides a stunning analysis of ancient mysteries, including Hermeticism, astrology, magic, alchemy, theosophy, signification of numbers, the astral plane, sacred geometry, Kabbalah, the tetragrammaton, the pyramids, and much more. This premium hardcover edition introduces the contemporary occultist to the ideas of one of history's most profound metaphysical thinkers.

Front Flap:

"Let us open the door and let us not be blinded by the light which escapes it, let us not be afraid to say that which must be said, because the masters wished that certain mysteries be revealed...What then have you seen on the occult side of the Universe?"―Papus

Elementary Treatise on Occult Science was one of the most influential books to emerge from the turn-of-the-century French occult revival―a detailed and readable description of the magical universe and humanity's place in it. Many important teachers and authors of the esoteric arts―including Madame Blavatsky, Rudolf Steiner, and Manly P. Hall―were influenced by Papus's vision of occult philosophy and the hidden side of history. This volume, translated and annotated by Mark Mikituk with a foreword by John Michael Greer, provides a captivating view of Papus's visionary mind and his radical ideas.

ONE TRUTH AND ONE SPIRIT:
Aleister Crowley’s Spiritual Legacy
by Keith Readdy, Vere Chappell (Foreword)
Hardcover: 436 pages
Publisher: Ibis Press (December 1, 2018)
List Price: $35.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Based upon academic research at the University of Amsterdam's Center for the History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents, One Truth and One Spirit is a much-needed work that covers a previously unexplored history of the modern religious movement known as Thelema. This work details the theoretical framework of Aleister Crowley's spiritual legacy in the O.T.O. and the A?A? and covers the years of Thelema since Crowley's death in 1947.

One Truth and One Spirit approaches a complex topic with a complex history, with exhaustive citations and sources, but it is written for anyone interested in the subject of Thelema. The author utilizes published source material as well as previously unavailable information, which makes this a unique contribution to the available literature.

One Truth and One Spirit is expected to be of interest to the novice, the scholar, and the seasoned practitioner of Thelema. The work provides a general historical overview of Thelema from a theoretical vantage point, explores the historical development of the movement from the 1960s to the 1990s, and applies the author's own critical discussions on the topic itself.

HIPPIE COMMIE BEATNIK WITCHES:
A Social History of the New Reformed Orthodox Order of the Golden Dawn
by Aidan A. Kelly (Author), Members of the New Reformed Orthodox Order of the Golden Dawn (Contributor)
Paperback: 216 pages
Publisher: Hierophant Wordsmith Press (March 4, 2011)
List Price: $19.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
HCBW is a social history of the New Reformed Orthodox Order of the Golden Dawn during its first decade, from 1967 to 1977. The NROOGD was founded by a group of friends in San Francisco as a way to participate in the new Witchcraft movement begun in England by Gerald Gardner. The NROOGD ar first was a "Pagan occult study and dancing society" that held Sabbats in public parks in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1969 NROOGD members formed their first coven, which evolved into a family of a dozen Gardnerian-style covens during the next decade. It has always held Sabbats open to the public, a practice that help inspire the Pagan festivals that began to proliferate in the late 1970s. In the mid-1970s, working with members of the Feri and other Traditions, NROOGD members participated in a series of extraordinary meetings that led to the formation of the Covenant of the Goddess, the first national church for Witches, in 1975, an event here documented in detail for the first time. Although Aidan Kelly, one of he founders of the NROOGD, is the primary author, HCBW contains contributions by another dozen NROOGD members, describing their experiences in the NROOGD and in the Craft, as well as how those experiences changed their lives. HCBW includes scripts for the basic NROOGD Sabbat ritual, which has influenced Craft rituals widely for the last four decades, and for the Sabbat held at Mabon to commemorate the Eleusinian Mysteries of ancient Greece, one of the NROOGD's most unusual celebrations.

About the Author:
I imagine some people would write here some sort of advertising fluff about being the greatest writer since ink was invented. That's not who I am.

I have been writing for at least 61 years. I remember two short stories at about ages 10 and 14, two plays (one in German) at age 12, first attempts at poetry at 16, after hearing Blake's "The Tyger." My first poem to be published was in 1960, in Transfer, the San Francisco State lit mag. I did not think I had written much poetry over the last 52 years--until I counted, about two years ago, and discovered I have more poems than are in Yeats' collected poetry. Then I put together "Theodyssies and Paradoxologies." I had thought up that title many years ago. Unpack it; it tells much about what I explore.

Hippie Commie Beatnik Witches is who we were. That was worth writing, especially because there are few accurate and honest inside accounts of how a religious group was created. We did not need permission or authorization to do that, although I suppose we were touched by the little finger of the Goddess once in a while. I am also almost finished with Volume One of "A Tapestry of Witches." It will cover the first two decades of the history of the Craft in America. I've been collecting the materials for that since the 1970s.

Goddess Murder. My agent friends assured me that it was much too original, did not fit into any of the subgenres of the novel, that no publisher would touch it. And my silly mentors in the Creative Writing program at San Francisco State had told me that one should strive to be as original as possible. How very unrealistic that was--until now. I'm a little sorry to see the legacy publishers going bankrupt because they could not see this revolution coming, but I'm glad their monopoly on publishing has been destroyed.

The earliest material in the novel is from an apocryphal gospel I created in about 1971 out of the fragments of Gnostic writings I could glean from the ten volumes of the Ante-Nicene Fathers I found, with surprise and delight, at Holmes Books at Third and Market in San Francisco, diagonally across from the offices of Scientific American Books, where I was then a manuscript editor. I made a far more sympathetic case for those Gnostics than they had made for themselves.

I later created two more apocryphal gospels, one of Mary Magdalen in the 1980s, then "The Gospel of Diana" about 1991. It was very strange having the voice of a hereditary Italian Witch in the 1870s speaking in my head, telling me things I had not known about religious history. And then all insisted on becoming part of a love story, "A Tale of Love, Witches, and Gnostics," set in an alternative history. Can you imagine what a genuine interface that could integrate the Craft with a Gnostic sort of Christianity would have to be like? That's what Diana told me.
