THE PHYSICS OF TRANSFIGURED LIGHT:
The Imaginal Realm and the Hermetic Foundations of Science 2nd Edition
By Leon Marvell Ph.D., Arthur Versluis (Foreword)
Hardcover: 352 pages
Publisher: Inner Traditions; 2 edition (May 7, 2016)
List Price: $29.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Reveals the Hermetic underpinnings of modern scientific theories

• Offers a full reconsideration of the history of science from Newton to the present day as well as a Platonic-Hermetic perspective on modern technology

• Examines Hermetic resonances among the ideas of Gurdjieff, Robert Fludd, Marsilio Ficino, and cybernetics; Einstein and the Tibetan Bardo; Neoplatonism and artificial intelligence; and Rosicrucianism and the internet

• Shows how Hermetic doctrine is at the heart of what modern physics is now rediscovering: that consciousness permeates everything

Contemporary scientific disciplines such as chaos and complexity theory, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science treat themselves as new fields of inquiry, but many of these ideas can be traced back to Hermeticism, the European intellectual tradition sparked by the rediscovery of the Corpus Hermeticum and Platonic texts in the 15th century.

Building a map of the progression of scientific thought across centuries and continents, Leon Marvell examines the ancient roots of Hermeticism, its rise during the Renaissance, and its suppression during the scientific revolution of the Enlightenment. He reveals how three main Hermetic ideas--the divine spark within each individual, the subtle body, and the anima mundi or world soul--have continually emerged at the cutting edge of science and philosophy throughout the ages because these ideas represent universal truths recognized by each era of human civilization.

Marvell examines Hermetic resonances among the ideas of Gurdjieff, Robert Fludd, Marsilio Ficino, and cybernetic theory; Einstein and the Tibetan Bardo; and Neoplatonism and the work of AI scientist Christopher Langton. He reveals how the Rosicrucian description of the Invisible College also describes the instant availability of knowledge via the Internet, and he shows how Hermetic thought is at the heart of what modern physics is rediscovering: that consciousness permeates everything and the universe cannot be reduced to the random play of matter.

Offering a full reconsideration of the history of science from Newton to the present day as well as a Platonic-Hermetic perspective on modern technology, Marvell reveals the pattern that connects the sciences, philosophy, and ancient knowledge and opens a potentially rich field of inquiry for 21st-century science.

While examining various belief traditions across Europe and the United States, The Fairy Realm consults an assemblage of anecdotal evidence as to the existence of fairies and other creatures that appear in fairy tales - giants, ogres, trolls, mermaids, brownies, wildmen, kelpie, puca and other mythological beings. Ronan Coghlan, whose works include The Encyclopaedia of Arthurian Legends, Handbook of Fairies, Irish Myth and Legend and The Grail, examines an array of alleged fairy sightings in an endeavour to find where fairies fit into the modern scientific concepts of the universe. Unlike myriad books on ghosts and extraterrestrials, this book boldly tackles the possibility of fairy existence, and in doing so dares to approach all manner of sceptical argument.

JAILBREAKING THE GODDESS:
A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality
By Lasara Firefox Allen
Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Llewellyn Publications (July 8, 2016)
List Price: $22.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER/BACK COVER:
Jailbreaking the Goddess is an important contribution to the writings on Goddess tradition and feminist spirituality. . . . I love her political savvy, her sensitivity around issues of diversity and cultural awareness and appropriation, and her unabashed celebration of pleasure, sensuality, and life!"―Starhawk

Jailbreaking the Goddess is a revolutionary revisioning of the feminine divine. Where the maiden, mother, crone archetypal system is tied to female biology and physical stages of life, the fivefold model liberates the female experience from the shackles of the reproductive model.

In a woman's lifetime, she will go through several different cycles of beginnings, potential, creation, mastery, and wisdom. This fivefold model is not an adaption of the threefold. It is a new system that embraces the powerful, fluid nature of the lived experience of women today.

Join Lasara Firefox Allen as she explores the nature of the five archetypes; gives examples of what areas of life each might preside over; lists goddesses that fit within each archetype; suggests ways to begin building relationship with the different archetypes; and provides simple rituals for recognition, transition, and invocation.

Praise:

“This fiercely inspired body of work is art, theory, and passion. Genius.”―Rosa De Anda, from her foreword

“Lasara Firefox Allen delves deep into the ways in which colonialist language has shaped our experience of the divine feminine. . . . This is an innovative work that has the potential to change the face of modern feminist spirituality.”―Suzanne Sterling, founder of Voice of Change

“Moving beyond our feminine biology as a definition of who we are and how we relate to the divine feminine, Lasara Firefox Allen creates a whole new template more suitable for women today. It is a game changer.”―Anodea Judith, PhD, author of Wheels of Life and Anodea Judith’s Chakra Yoga

“Lasara has brought us the goddesses who speak across time and space, who invite us to be inclusive and intersectional in our worship. . . . They remind us that the survival of our species, of all species of life, requires that we create diverse, complex, dynamic communities.”―Mai’a Williams, journalist, teacher, activist, and editor of Revolutionary Mothering

“This book makes room for discussions that include colonization, appropriation, representation, binary gender concerns, sexuality, and many other elements of dominant culture. . . . Each section gives a wealth of information on the ways in which we can connect to the five archetypes that Firefox Allen has presented.”―Crystal Blanton, MSW, editor of Bringing Race to the Table

“Lasara Firefox Allen has liberated the divine feminine from her tired tropes and set her free in a single step toward our collective embrace of a decolonized spirituality.”―Darcy Totten and Jasper James, Activism Articulated

“Jailbreaking the Goddess is a journey into history, myth, and the inner planes. . . . [It’s] one of those rare Pagan books that will still be talked about in fifty years; it’s that groundbreaking.”―Jason Mankey, editor of the Patheos Pagan channel and author of The Witch’s Athame

“Lasara Firefox Allen has liberated the goddess from every possible stereotype: race, reproductive status, age, sexual preference―even gender identity. Jailbreaking the Goddess provides countless possibilities for everyone to meet and engage with archetypal feminine power on their own terms. I love this book!”―Barbara Carrellas, author of Urban Tantra

“For nearly fifty years I have been the consort of a most extraordinary Woman/Priestess/Goddess. Never in those fifty years (or in our childhood years that preceded them) has her divine and infinite person-hood ever allowed itself to be limited and taken captive by the simplistic classic model of maid, mother, and crone. Lasara Firefox Allen’s Fivefold Goddess model identifies and describes the Mysteries of Modern Woman, and comes dangerously close to allowing me to at least hear Her sphinx’s riddle.”―Lon Milo DuQuette, author of Low Magick

“Jailbreaking The Goddess is a delicious tool for dismantling (and reimagining) the way we think about women’s spirituality and power. [The] fivefold goddess model honors the divine nature in all women, regardless of age, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, and economic status. This is an exciting, smart, and practical approach to liberating the mind, body, and spirit.”―Laurie Lovekraft, Reclaiming Witch, priestess, and Huffington Post columnist

“Lasara is a dynamic and powerful woman who shows us that revolution starts within. This radical new way of looking at the divine feminine injects a much-needed freshness into Goddess spirituality!”―Sharon Knight, musician and priestess

“Yes and more yes to this new model, which moves us out of the expectation of conformation to outdated cultural norms. One of the things I love most about this book is how it allows for other forms to exist within it (and you!). It’s an opening of possibility for all women to re-divine all parts of ourselves.”―Jenya T. Beachy, teacher, blogger, and author of the forthcoming The Secret Country of Yourself

“A fantastic and sorely needed contribution to feminist spirituality discourse. It breaks open the tired tropes of maiden, mother, crone and makes more space for the variety of lived experiences of anyone who relates to the female experience.”―Niki Whiting, MA, co-founder of Many Gods West

“In Allen’s vision the goddess is young and old, creative and wise, and above all strong. This is a Goddess who can map onto our own journeys at any part of our life. Allen’s gentle, fierce, and wise work guides us through the process of rebuilding our sense of ourselves as holy through relationship to these new faces of the Goddess.”―Brandy Williams, author of For the Love of the Gods and The Woman Magician.

“Lasara Firefox Allen has created what may well be the definitive guide to feminist spirituality. . . . The depth of Lasara’s passion, knowledge, and skill allows her to reveal and reframe the fundaments of magick in a way that will have a lasting impact within the field of magick and throughout the wider culture.”―Philip H. Farber, author of Brain Magick

“Jailbreaking the Goddess is challenging, unabashed and wild, yet thoughtful and articulate. I found pieces of myself and my personal Goddess journey that have never been illuminated by any other text. Lasara Firefox Allen has truly broken the Goddess out of an antiquated jail. The world needs this freed Goddess. This book is part of that liberation.”―Courtney Weber, author of Brigid: History, Mystery, and Magick

“Reading Jailbreaking the Goddess is a view into a world that but rarely exposes itself to the likes of me. The magic is classic, but updated to self-rooted authority, and the politics are heart-felt, leading to a vision of societal transformation centered on the Woman of Power, Wisdom, and Compassion.”―Sam Webster, PhD, MDiv, Executive Director of the Pantheon Foundation

“Whilst honoring the roots of Goddess worship, Lasara has successfully opened up avenues of exploration for anyone who identifies with worship of the feminal divine in clear and loving guidance towards a stronger community of men, women, and all in between.”―Xochiquetzal Duti Odinsdottir, HPs/x, Wayfarer Tradition

ISIS:
Goddess of Egypt & India
By Chris Morgan
Paperback: 256 pages
Publisher: Mandrake; Paper Original ed. edition (March 4, 2016)
List Price: $22.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
On India's south-western or Malabar coast is situated an ancient Hindu temple devoted to the famous god Shiva and his consort the fearsome Kali. But an earlier dedication was to the Buddhist/Jaina goddess Pattini, whose mortal husband was tried and killed in a series of brutal events still commemorated in the temple's ritual year. And before this the story gets even stranger, as there are said to be the remains of a secret, underground shrine, the home to a mystery cult dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis. Greek, Roman & Near Eastern merchants travelled to India after a regular, if epic, sea journey of two thousand miles across the Arabian Ocean, making their first landfall at a port known in the ancient world as Musiris. The story begins on the banks of the Nile when Isis and Osiris were the beating heart of Egypt's most popular religion. I will trace their origins to the Egypt's pyramid age in the middle of the second millennia bce and even earlier. A great deal of this book is devoted to describing what is known about their cult from Egyptian records. This, I shall argue, is the basis for what comes later in the time-line, when Greek and Roman Empires dominated the Mediterranean world. Now Isis and Osiris become the focus of a global religion and the basis of the most popular of all classical mystery cults.

THE LINESTRIDER TAROT
By Siolo Thompson
Llewellyn Publications, May 2016
Boxed Kit, Paperback guidebook,  288 pages and 78 card set
Price:  $28.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Spun with soft strokes of vibrant color and intricate detail, The Linestrider Tarot features gentle yet evocative images that dance on the edge between magic and logic. With grace and innovation, Siolo Thompson’s captivating minimalist art will enhance your readings in powerful and profound ways.

Linestriding is about walking in two worlds—one foot in each to discover guidance. Drawing inspiration from the edge while still moving forward on the Fool’s journey, this Rider-Waite-Smith-based deck helps uncover the answers you seek about health, love, career, and much more.

“Linestrider is a tarot deck that dances on the edge of magic and logic, animal and human, the conscious and unconscious mind. Drawing inspiration from that edge while still moving forward on the Fool's journey that is line striding. Personally, the creation of the deck has been a journey for me as well. I've drawn each card several times until I felt that the right voice had manifested. I've come to understand the cards in a much deeper way as I sat quietly, with each one and tried to hear its voice. The deck is gentle and whimsical while not being overly superficial. The Linestrider deck features  a lot of animal imagery, many of the important archetypes manifested as animal spirits (for example the Hermit as a bear and the Magician as a monkey) an important reminder to listen to nature and seek guidance from her voice rather than only looking to the cold intelligence of man.”

FALLEN ANGELS ORACLE CARDS
By Nigel Suckling (Author), Sarah Perkins (Illustrator)
69 Card deck, accompanying booklet.
Publisher: CICO Books; Crds/Pap edition (March 31, 2011)
List Price: $16.95

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
A book and pack of 69 cards for insight and prediction. Every legendary villain has a story ultimately more fascinating than his hero counterpart. These fallen angels are no exception: cast out from heaven, the subversive spirits in this deck have committed at least one of the seven deadly sins to secure their place in the legions of the damned.
The cards in Nigel Suckling's oracle are similarly rich with experience, and devilishly direct: Zepar, the angel who makes women love men, reveals the complications of an affair; Gusion, who can discern the past, present and future, calls upon you to let intuition rule; while Shax, who has the appearance of a stork, warns you to protect your wealth.
Choose a card for daily insight, or lay them out for a reading, just like tarot...and you will find that your readings have depth and veracity. The accompanying book reveals the card's meaning, and explains the circumstances of each angel's history and wisdom teaching. The illustrations, by artist Sarah Perkins, have been specially commissioned to evoke the dark charm of these most fascinating, mysterious creatures, all of whom offer a special message for you.
