About the Presider

Stefanie Warren is a lifelong lover of all things artistic and adventurous. She spent her early years dedicated to the theatre, culminating in a yearlong national tour with a professional stage play. She writes poetry, short stories, and more recently a blog of her impending world tour adventures. She also draws mandalas and enjoys any opportunity to be creative. Stefanie has been a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids for the last 14 years, and an active member of a local OBOD seed group, Circle of Coll, since 2007.

About our Arbiters

Willow Moon is a member of the British Druid Order, OBOD, and the founder of the Gorsedd of Caer Columbia; a BDO sister grove in southeastern Washington. Druidry inspires and informs her life. After a traumatic brain injury in 2013 she lost her ability to create art and write poetry. Being gentle but persistent with herself, she refused to give up. Now, two years later, her art and poetry are alive and thriving. We are what we do! She writes "I am honored to open the door and witness your heart. Thank you for trusting in the power of your creation."

Leon Reed is an accomplished poet and respected elder of Seattle's magical community. He became a Bard at Avebury and is now an Ovate in the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. He is also one of the founders of the Bards of Caer Pugetia, a Gorsedd of the British Druid Order. Leon is a true Renaissance man and has written on Ogum, Celtic Gods and heros, the Tarot, medieval magical practices, ghost hunting, the Knights Templar and Celtic Astronomy. He has manuscripts in preparation on herbology, an incense maker’s formulary, a metaphysical history of the Pacific Northwest, and a biography of occultist Charles Stanfield Jones.

Moss Magill is an award winning playwright and poet, co-founder of the Circle of Coll Seed Group, a local affiliate of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. By profession, Moss has been a Learning and Development Specialist for the last 20 years and has taught multiple workshops about the writing of sacred poetry for liturgical purposes.

DICTIONARY OF ANCIENT MAGIC WORDS AND SPELLS:
From Abraxas to Zoar
by Claude Lecouteux
Hardcover: 448 pages
Publisher: Inner Traditions; Mul edition (October 24, 2015)
List Price: $35.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
A comprehensive handbook of more than 1,000 magical words, phrases, symbols, and secret alphabets

Explains the origins, derivatives, and practical usage of each word, phrase, and spell as well as how they can be combined for custom spells

Based on the magical traditions of Europe, Greece, and Egypt and recently discovered one-of-a-kind grimoires from Scandinavia, France, and Germany

Includes an in-depth exploration of secret magical alphabets, including those based on Hebrew letters, Kabbalistic symbols, astrological signs, and runes

From Abracadabra to the now famous spells of the Harry Potter series, magic words are no longer confined to the practices of pagans, alchemists, witches, and occultists. They have become part of the popular imagination of the Western world. Passed down from ancient Babylon, Egypt, and Greece, these words and the rituals surrounding them have survived through the millennia because they work. And as scholar Claude Lecouteux reveals, often the more impenetrable they seem, the more effective they are.

Analyzing more than 7,000 spells from the magical traditions of Europe as well as the magical papyri of the Greeks and recently discovered one-of-a-kind grimoires from Scandinavia, France, and Germany, Lecouteux has compiled a comprehensive dictionary of ancient magic words, phrases, and spells along with an in-depth exploration--the first in English--of secret magical alphabets, including those based on Hebrew letters, Kabbalistic symbols, astrological signs, and runes. Drawing upon thousands of medieval accounts and famous manuscripts such as the Heptameron of Peter Abano, the author examines the origins of each word or spell, offering detailed instructions on their successful use, whether for protection, love, wealth, or healing. He charts their evolution and derivations through the centuries, showing, for example, how spells that were once intended to put out fires evolved to protect people from witchcraft. He reveals the inherent versatility of magic words and how each sorcerer or witch had a set of stock phrases they would combine to build a custom spell for the magical need at hand.

Presenting a wealth of material on magical words, signs, and charms, both common and obscure, Lecouteux also explores the magical words and spells of ancient Scandinavia, the Hispano-Arabic magic of Spain before the Reconquista, the traditions passed down from ancient Egypt, and those that have stayed in use until the present day.

MODERN TANTRA:
Living One of the World's Oldest, Continuously Practiced Forms of Pagan Spirituality in the New Millennium
by Donald Michael Kraig
Paperback: 408 pages
Publisher: Llewellyn Publications (December 8, 2015)
List Price: $34.99

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Tantra is one of the oldest, continuously practiced, Pagan spiritual systems. Modern Tantra reveals the original sources of common concepts such as Chakras and Karma, and that they are often not the same as is commonly accepted. More importantly, it presents an ancient Pagan system, appropriate for people today, complete with its own myths, traditions, deities, astrology, healing methods, divination systems, rituals, spells, and magick.

Modern Tantra introduces concepts that are little known in the West, including the five kleshas, traditional blockages to spiritual advancement, and the Sri Yantra, a simple geometric figures seen all over India that can function like the Kabalistic Tree of Life on mega-steroids! Also introduced here is a traditional nine-chakra system with a secret chakra in the center of the skull that is responsible for producing a strange substance known as amrita, a sign of spiritual evolution.

Included here are rituals for daily use, for setting up your own Real Tantra group, for birth, puberty, weddings, and death. Also included are healing techniques using breathwork, hand positions (mudras), and chants (mantras). This is truly a complete spiritual system, yet it is presented in a way that is never dogmatic and urges growth, experimentation, and evolution.

COSMOS, CHAOSMOS AND ASTROLOGY
by Bernadette Brady
Paperback: 162 pages
Publisher: Sophia Centre Press (May 24, 2014)
List Price: $15.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
This work radically rethinks astrology's place in society. Emerging when cultures were embedded in chaotic creation mythology, astrology has persisted into modern society. Reasons for this longevity are an enigma, yet the answer may lie in chaos theory and complexity. These theories reveal that the themes of coincidence and cycles, constitutive of chaotic creation mythologies, are in fact the common features of a lived life experience. Brady argues that astrology is actually a vernacular expression of chaos and complexity, and it thus offers insights into the efficacy of the synchronicities of life. Brady thereby offers us a profound reassessment of astrology and its cultural contexts.

THE UNION OF ISIS AND THOTH:
Magic and Initiatory Practices of Ancient Egypt
by Normandi Ellis , Nicki Scully
Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Bear & Company (November 19, 2015)
List Price: $18.00

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
An initiatic guide to temple construction on the spiritual and physical planes

Details the initiations for consecrating yourself as a divine vessel

Guides you in building a sacred inner temple for connecting with the gods of Egypt

Delivers shamanic journeys and initiations on ascension, shamanic death and renewal, soul retrieval and healing, multidimensional realities, and more

Deep within each of us lives a primal memory of a time when the natural world was recognized as divine and our temples were built from sacred materials enlivened through magic. Temples were not places you visited once a week; they were centers of community, divine work, healing, and wisdom, places where Heaven and Earth meet. This union of Heaven and Earth--the sacred temple--is also a union of Thoth and Isis: the Egyptian god of wisdom and the creative cosmic force and the Egyptian goddess of civilizing knowledge. Their relationship established the celestial teachings on Earth, for Thoth taught Isis all the mysteries and magic she knows and Isis acted as Thoth’s instrument to deliver the teachings in a form humanity could use.

In this initiatic guide to temple building on the spiritual and physical planes, Normandi Ellis and Nicki Scully explain how to create a communal spiritual structure for connecting with the ancient Egyptian pantheon as well as how to consecrate yourself and become a vessel suitable for divine wisdom and a home for your personal gods. The authors detail the construction, shamanic visioning, and ritual consecration of a Moon Temple dedicated to Thoth. They explore teachings that help you develop relationships with the Egyptian neteru and realize your place within the family of the Egyptian pantheon. They guide you as you create your inner heart temple, the adytum, a safe place in which to receive guidance and access your higher spiritual bodies and oracular gifts. They provide shamanic journeys and initiations on ascension, shamanic death and renewal, soul retrieval and healing, multidimensional realities, and more.

By creating a sacred temple within and without, we each can take part in the union of Isis and Thoth and restore the magic of the Egyptian mysteries to our time.
