Welcome to the 46th edition of the Edge of the Circle Newsletter. This newsletter has come about as an effort to reach out to the Pagan/ Occult community (particularly in Seattle where we are based) to inform the community of what events are happening at our store. THE COMPLETE MAGICK CURRICULUM OF THE SECRET ORDER G.B.G.:
BEING THE ENTIRE STUDY, CURRICULUM, MAGICK RITUALS, AND INITIATORY PRACTICES OF THE G.B.G
(THE GREAT BROTHERHOOD OF GOD)
Louis T. Culling (Author), Carl Llewellyn Weschcke (Author)
Paperback: 360 pages
Publisher: Llewellyn Publications; Exp Rev edition (August 1, 2010)
List Price:$29.95

BOOK BLURB:
Founded upon the revolutionary premise that High Magick can be distilled to a few powerful and efficient steps, Louis T. Culling’s original edition of this classic magick book broke all the rules.
Llewellyn is proud to present an updated and expanded edition of this pioneering work.

The G.B.G., or “Great Brotherhood of God,” was a magickal order founded by acclaimed magician Frater Genesthai. Louis T. Culling, one of the initial members of the G.B.G. in California, was instructed by Genesthai to reveal the Order’s magickal curriculum when the time was right.

Carl Llewellyn Weschcke, publisher of Culling’s original edition of this book, offers illuminating commentary, definitions, and discussion points to render these profound magickal philosophies and practices even more accessible and relevant for contemporary magickal practice. This new edition is also an interesting philosophical commentary, answering a number of questions about historical occult orders and figures like Aleister Crowley. The techniques taught in this curriculum include:

—Dream Recall and Interpretation
—Functioning in the Borderland
—Finding One’s True Magickal Identity
—The Retirement Ritual
—The Invocation of Thoth
—Ritual Divination
—Imprinting the I Ching on the Body
—The Three Degrees of Sex Magick
—Thelema and the Magickal Will
—Invocation of Human Quality
—The Rite of Transubstantiation
—Conversations with a God
—Magickal Offspring—the Familiar
—The Great Lunar Trances

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Louis T. Culling was a respected magician whose contributions to modern occultism are unique. One of the initial members of the Secret Order G...B...G..., he served as the head of the Southern California section of the Order. He is the author of many books, including The Pristine Yi King and Sex Magick.

Carl Llewellyn Weschcke (Minnesota) is the owner and chairman of Llewellyn Worldwide, the world's oldest and largest metaphysical publisher. He played a seminal role in the rise of Wicca and Neo-Paganism in the 1960s and 1970s and has been called "the father of New Age" for his public sponsorship of occult subjects. Weschcke also served as the 7th Past Grand Master Ordo Aurum Solis.

TWILIGHT OF THE GODS: THE MAYAN CALENDAR AND THE RETURN OF THE  EXTRATERRESTRIALS
Erich von Daniken
Paperback: 224 pages
Publisher: New Page Books; 1 edition (July 29, 2010)
List Price:$17.99

BOOK BLURB:
High up in the Bolivian Andes-4,000 meters above sea level-lies Pumapunku, an ancient ruined city that simply could never have been constructed by its Stone Age inhabitants."Something here really stinks to high heaven," writes Erich von Daniken.

"In Twilight of the Gods," says von Daniken, "I document precisely what it was that left the first visitors breathless as they stood before the mighty stone blocks some 400 years ago. I will show you what archeologists discovered hundreds of years ago and demonstrate how much has been destroyed over the centuries. Intentionally.

"I will also prove that Pumapunku was not built by any Stone Age people.

"And in December 2012, the gods will return from their long journey and appear again here on Earth. At least that is what the Mayan calendar would have us believe.

"The so-called gods--the extraterrestrials--will come again. We're headed for a 'god shock' of major proportions.

"But doesn't anyone with half a brain know that interstellar travel is simply impossible because of the sheer distances involved? And that extraterrestrials would never look like us?

"Well, dear readers, I destroy these preconceptions. Systematically. One bit at a time."

In his own inimitable way, Erich von Daniken picks these preconceptions and prejudices apart with a clarity no other author could manage.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Erich von Daniken is arguably the most widely read and most-copied nonfiction author in the world. He published his first (and most well-known) book, Chariots of the Gods, in 1968. It was a worldwide best-seller and has been followed by 31 more books including the recent hit History Is Wrong (New Page Books). His works have been translated into 28 different languages and have sold a total of 63 million copies. Several of his books have also been turned into films, and Erich's ideas have been the inspiration for a wide range of TV series, including the History Channel's smash hit special, "Ancient Astronauts." He is an ever-present figure on the international lecture circuit. He lives in Switzerland.

UNCOMMONSENSE TAROT
Tarot readings by Erica (Raven) Branch-Butler

“ I've been reading Tarot for more than thirty years, and reading professionally at the Edge for nearly a decade. My belief is that Tarot is best used for putting you in touch with your own subconscious, allowing you to make healthy decisions that can change your life for the better. My readings tend to be rather commonsensical (hence the name) and are geared toward helping the client circumvent the often self-imposed obstacles in their lives, so that they can achieve their goals and fully enjoy the fruits that life has to bring.”

Please inquire about Tarot Parties, classes and other events.
Available every day except TUESDAYS-- 12:30-8.30PM.
Sundays 3:30-8:30 PM

TAROT BY COMPASS
Every TUESDAY from 12:30-8:30 PM

“I've been reading cards for 20 years and doing readings professionally for nine. I've been reading cards at folk life and Bumbershoot for nine years along with various fairs and festivals on the west coast.

I believe the tarot works as an interpersonal growth tool that on some levels works like the childhood game of "broken telephone." Everyone of the 78cards in a tarot deck have a central meaning. Depending on where they fall in a spread, how they are dignified, and any colloquial non-sequiturs that happen to come out of my mouth create a personalized story of what's going on in ones life. The cards are great about "speaking" of the past and present. They can pick up on energies that are starting to manifest in ones life but ultimately after a reading is over everyone has free will and it is their choice how they deal with those energies. My job as a reader is multifaceted, from channel to help alleviate blocks; to sounding board as a listener. I've found that I get a wonderful thankful response from people I've given readings to.”
