The 72 demons, devils and monstrous beasts constrained within this 'book without words' by Ayis Lertas are iconic of all the vices, ills, impure appetites and perverse passions that thrive in the life of humankind.
In a style
evocative of illustrations from medieval manuscripts, the artist
presents, without explanation, a study of the afflictions that vex,
tempt, thwart and harm us. These he has extracted from raw experience
and distilled through art, so that a multitude of malign forces might
be captured in the form of images to illuminate the obscure depths of
the psyche. Contemplating these illustrations, unmediated by text,
will provoke a personal response in the viewer, the images acting in
accordance with one's capacity, or resolve, to penetrate the wilder
reaches of the inner world. For some this will be a medicine, or a
drug, for others a source of sensual and intellectual arousal.
The
phantasmagoria of 72 draws from the long history of European
demonology, but is marked by the acuity and black humour of the
artist.

Jinn
Sorcery by Rain Al-Alim is a compilation of jinn conjurations and
rituals translated from rare Arabic manuscripts in the author's
private collection.
Following
an introduction summarising traditional beliefs about the world and
nature of the jinn, the author proceeds to give a brief outline of
the Middle Eastern occult methods for summoning these beings,
techniques of dream divination, the mandal and invocation. In his
Preface, Al-Alim writes:
Many of the
methods and techniques covered in the old Arabic manuscripts and
grimoires are unknown to Western readers. This book is primarily
intended for this audience, presenting a complete translation of jinn
summoning techniques selected from multiple magical treatises that
will bridge the gap between the Western and Islamic occult sciences.
My wish is to facilitate the exchange of esoteric ideas between the
two worlds, and to inspire further research on the subject.
The main
body of the work comprises translations into English of numerous
rituals and operations selected from manuscripts, primarily from
Egypt and Morocco, in the author's collection.

Katy
Bohinc’s Trinity Star Trinity is a long poem dedicated to the
divine feminine, written in response to her experiences and
encounters with faith and deity during a sojourn on the islands of
Lesvos, the home of Sappho; Samos, the birthplace of Hera; and
Patmos, where St John wrote the Book of Revelation. Bohinc ‘embraces
Sappho’s conception of desire – rather than John’s defamatory
take,’ and the poem bears witness to her interest in astrology,
triangles, and early mathematics. Yet the esoteric nature of this
material is made startlingly tangible and present by the candid
language of the poem, and in its formal structure. Above all, ‘its
beauty comes from how the language might rise off the page.’
With
Trinity Star Trinity Katy Bohinc has reclaimed the ancient form of
the ode or chant in an Oulipian mathematical reinvention which
transports faith and the trinity to an expanded dimension: three
cubed, or 27 poems of 27 words each.

THE GAME

FROM THE
PUBLISHER:
The Game of
Saturn is the first full length, scholarly study of the enigmatic
Renaissance masterwork known as the Sola-Busca tarot. It reveals the
existence of a pagan liturgical and ritual tradition active amongst
members of the Renaissance elite and encoded within the deck. Beneath
its beautifully decorated surface, its imagery ranges from the
obscure to the grotesque; we encounter scenes of homoeroticism,
wounding, immolation and decapitation redolent of hidden meanings,
violent transformations and obscure rites.
For the
first time in over five hundred years, the clues embedded within the
cards reveal a dark Gnostic grimoire replete with pagan theurgical
and astral magical rites. Careful analysis demonstrates that the
presiding deity of this ‘cult object’ is none other than the
Gnostic demiurge in its most archaic and violent form: the
Afro-Levantine serpent-dragon, Ba’al Hammon, also known as Kronos
and Saturn, though more notoriously as the biblical Moloch, the
devourer of children.
Conveyed
from Constantinople to Italy in the dying years of the Byzantine
Empire, the pagan Platonist George Gemistos Plethon sought to ensure
the survival of the living essence of Neoplatonic theurgy by
transplanting it to the elite families of the Italian Renaissance.
Within that violent and sorcerous milieu, Plethon’s vision of a
theurgically enlightened elite mutated into its dark shadow – a
Saturnian brotherhood, operating within a cosmology of predation,
which sought to channel the draconian current to preserve elite
wealth, power and control. This development marks the birth of an
‘illumined elite’ over three centuries before Adam Weishaupt’s
‘Illuminati.’ The deck captures the essence of this magical
tradition and constitutes a Western terma whose talismanic properties
may serve to establish an initiatory link with the current.
This work
fully explores the historical context for the deck’s creation
against the background of tense Ferrarese-Venetian diplomatic
intrigue and espionage. The recovery of the deck’s encoded
narratives constitutes a significant contribution to Renaissance
scholarship, art history, tarot studies and the history of Western
esotericism.

Alchemy
Rising: The Green Book is the first in a projected trilogy by the
alchemist Heliophilus that aims to unveil the Sacred Art. Alchemy is
the central pillar of Hermeticism, essential for both understanding
and undertaking the magical work of the Western tradition, which is
steeped in its symbolism. As such, the initiatory lessons of this
opening volume comprise a valuable addition to the library and
laboratory of alchemist, herbalist, magician or witch.
The Green
Book is concerned with plant alchemy, how to practically confect
spagyrical Tinctures, Elixirs, the true Primum Ens, Plant Magisteries
and the Quintessence. Also covered are the Plant Stone of Hollandus,
the Plant Phoenix, the Quintessence of Blood and the Homunculus. It
constitutes a complete programme of practical works from the occult
laboratory of a modern day spagyricist.
Alchemy is
often thought to be impenetrable, breaking the lances of those who
challenge it. The Green Book enables the reader to engage in the
quest, building on key principles and cumulative experiments. The
processes Heliophilus discloses follow the works of the alchemical
tradition, and those of Paracelsus in particular, from whose
extensive writings he has extracted the virtue, and adumbrated with
his own working notes and photographic documentation.
Recipes and
methods of working are given, and compared with those of Jean Dubuis,
Mary Anne Atwood, Frater Albertus, Joseph Lisiewski, Van Helmont,
Crollius, John French, Hollandus, Sibly and others, to indicate a
path for the seeker to pursue in their own practic. The inclusion of
copious folk magical receipts and sympathetic cures (including the
rare weapon salve), in addition to the elixirs, tinctures, essences
et cetera, make this volume a veritable treasure, showing both the
philosophical theories and folk magical influences that informed his
guide Paracelsus.
The
alchemical creations are produced in the laboratory and the field,
extracted and perfected from the virtues of the plants growing in his
native Shropshire in England. The third part of the book consists of
a carefully selected Herbarium, along with guidance on the gathering
and uses of plants as healing remedies for body and soul. It is a
work that will potentise the philtres of the herbalist or witch and
will give depth to the practice of the magic of the grimoires. The
Green Book will teach you the art of distillation, how to separate
the pure from the impure, and instruct in the foundational laboratory
experience that will allow us to unlock the higher kingdoms.
