Magical and Occult Writings from the Publications of Robert Cross Smith
Edited by John Madziarczyk
Publisher: Topaz House Publications (April 13, 2017)
530 pages
Hardcover: $54.00
Paperback: $28.00

Robert Cross Smith (1795-1832) was an astrologer, magician, and geomancer. Smith founded the periodicals, “The Straggling Astrologer” and “The Familiar Astrologer”, which published magical material as well as astrological advice. The magical material dealt with topics as varied as alchemy, charms, the virtues of herbs and stones, invoking spirits into crystals, evoking demons, evoking spirits into circles, necromancy, invoking the fairy king Oberion, writings about fairies, geomancy, palmistry, physiognomy, divination by the “Wheel of Pythagoras”, and Behmenist Theosophy.
A Sorcerous Anthology” collects these writings, plus several pieces from Smith’s other publications, and presents them for the first time in one place. Certain of the writings have not been in print since the 1840s, and none have been presented without the other content of the magazines.
Divided into four parts, “A Sorcerous Anthology” contains sections on Divination, Low Magic, and High Magic, as well as selections on the history of astrology and the powers of the planets, Smith’s original introductions to the publications, and an obituary and horoscope for Smith written by fellow astrologer “Zadkiel”. Smith's life, writings, and place in the history of occultism is examined in the introduction to the volume.

A New Translation Paperback
by Eliphas Lévi (Author), John Michael Greer (Translator), Mark Anthony Mikituk (Translator)
Paperback: 512 pages
Publisher: Tarcher Perigee (April 4, 2017)
List Price: $23.00

Filling a huge gap in our spiritual culture, here--at last--is a comprehensive and elegant translation of the 1854 French masterwork of occult philosophy.

The Doctrine and Ritual of High Magic reignited the esoteric spiritual search in the West and led to the emergence of Madame Blavatsky, Manly P. Hall, and the New Age revolution.

Lévi's study of magic is an absolute must for every seeker in occult, esoteric, and Druidic realms; but this need has been frustrated by dated and inaccurate translations--until now. Greer, a respected occult scholar, and Mikituk, a masterful translator, collaborate to restore this landmark work--complete with its original illustrations and symbols--to the center of the alternative spiritual canon.

by Gerard Thibault (Author), John Michael Greer (Translator)
Hardcover: 512 pages
Publisher: AEON Books (March 1, 2017)
List Price: $60.00

Four centuries ago, the famed swordsman Gerard Thibault d’Anvers wrote one of the forgotten classics of the Western esoteric tradition―a comprehensive manual of swordsmanship as a Western martial art based on Renaissance sacred geometry.

Rescued from oblivion and translated into readable English by widely respected modern occultist John Michael Greer, The Academy of the Sword is an astonishingly detailed instructional guide on the way of the sword as it was practiced in the age of the of Musketeers. It covers every aspect of sword training from stance and footwork and the development of sensitivity and timing to hundreds of detailed techniques for overcoming opponents armed with all of the standard weapons of the time.

This new volume also lavishly reproduces the beautiful 17th-century etchings that accompany the instructions, and which provide a compelling glimpse into the ritualistic world of duelling.

The Academy of the Sword will be invaluable to readers interested in historical Western martial arts, students of stage fight, and practitioners of sacred geometry alike.
