within the mysterious Afro-Cuban religion of SanterÃa, also known as
LucumÃ, there is a deep body of secrets and rituals called Ifá,
divination practiced by priests whose title, Babalawo, means “Father
of the Secrets.” This book pulls away the veil of secrecy to reveal
exactly what Ifá is and how it works, exploring its history,
cosmology, Orichas, initiations, mythology, offerings, and
sacrifices. Join Frank Baba Eyiogbe in this fascinating introduction
that discusses the functions of the Babalawo, the role of women, the
future of Ifá, and much more.

About
Athanasius Kircher's Theatre of the World-
A
major study of both the written and pictorial work of a neglected
genius whose breadth of interest made him the last Renaissance man
- Fully examines every area of Kircher’s wide field of study and accomplishments
- Magnificently illustrated with stunning engravings from Kircher’s work
Jesuit,
linguist, archaeologist, and exceptional scholar, Athanasius Kircher
(1602-1680) was the last true Renaissance man. To Kircher the entire
world was a glorious manifestation of God. His exploration was both a
scientific quest and a religious experience. Credited with being the
first Egyptologist, his works on Egyptology, music, optics,
magnetism, geology, and comparative religion were the definitive
texts of their time--and yet they represent only a part of his vast
range of knowledge. A Christian Hermeticist in the style of Marsilio
Ficino and Pico della Mirandola, his work also examined alchemy, the
Kabbalah, and the Egyptian mystery tradition exemplified by Hermes
Trismegistus.
The
Hermetic cast of Kircher’s thought, which was foreign to the
concerns of those propelling the Age of Reason, coupled with the
breadth of his interests, caused many of his contributions to be
widely overlooked--an oversight now masterfully rectified by Joscelyn
Godwin. It has been said that Kircher could think only in images. The
stunning engravings that are a distinguishing feature of his work are
included here so we may fully appreciate and see for ourselves the
life work, philosophy, and achievements of “the last man who knew
everything.”

at Cambridge and Cornell, Joscelyn Godwin, Ph.D., is a professor of

the Cycles of Time. Known for his translations of the works of Fabre
d’Olivet and Julius Evola as well as Francesco Colonna’s
Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, he lives in Hamilton, New York.

Unlocking
the secrets of Tantra--one of the most alluring forms of Buddhism
Often
misunderstood, Tantrism focuses on a particular style of meditation
and ritual. Having far more to do with the sacred than the sexual,
Tantric Buddhism is believed to have originated around the 5th
Century AD in the rich cultural basin of Bengal and spread throughout
the Asian world. Today it is widely practiced in Tibet, Japan, and
the West.
The
Secrets of Tantric Buddhism presents accessible translations of 46
classic texts found in the Carya-Giti, a collection of teachings by
more than twenty famous Siddhas, or Tantric adepts, who lived during
the illustrious Pala dynasty of the 10th and 11th centuries. Renowned
translator and scholar Thomas Cleary unlocks the mysteries of these
texts and provides commentary for each that explains the ancient
teachings in a way that makes them seem fresh and contemporary.
These
teachings emanate from one of the most dynamic sources of Buddhism,
at the height of its religious development. They are completely
nonsectarian and will be greeted enthusiastically by those interested
in spirituality, world religions, and classic Buddhism.
About
the Author:
Thomas
Cleary is an internationally known translator of spiritual classics
from Chinese, Japanese, Sanskrit, Pali, and Arabic. He holds a B.A.
in Far Eastern Languages from Harvard College and M.A. and Ph.D.
degrees in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard

A
“what to expect” guide for first-time ayahuasca users paired with
accounts from the author’s extensive shamanic experiences in the
Amazon
- Describes how to prepare for the first ceremony, what to do in the days afterward, and how to maintain a shamanic healing diet
- Details some of the author’s own ayahuasca experiences, including an intensive trip in 2009 when he underwent 17 ceremonies
- Explores the many other plants that are part of the ayahuasca healer’s medicine cabinet as well as the icaros, healing songs, of the ayahuasca shaman
Since
1999 Jan Kounen has regularly traveled to the Peruvian Amazon to
participate in ayahuasca ceremonies. At first only a curious
filmmaker, over multiple trips he transformed from explorer to
apprentice to ayahuasquero and often found himself surrounded by
other foreigners coming to the jungle for their first taste of
ayahuasca medicine. Knowing how little guidance is available on how
to prepare or what to expect, he naturally offered them advice.
Part
visionary ayahuasca memoir and part practical guide, this book
contains the same step-by-step advice that Kounen provides first-time
ayahuasca users in the jungle. He describes how to prepare for the
first ceremony and what to do in the days afterward. He explores how
to deal with the nausea and details the special preparatory diets an
ayahuasca shaman will put you on, often lasting for months but
necessary for life-transforming results and teachings from the plant
spirits. He also explains how it is far easier to maintain these
restrictions in the jungle than in the city.
Detailing
his own ayahuasca experiences over hundreds of sessions, including a
trip in 2009 when he underwent 17 ceremonies in 25 days, Kounen
describes how ayahuasca transformed him. He tells of his meetings
with Shipibo healers, including Kestenbetsa, who opened the doors of
this world for him, and Panshin Beka, the shaman to whom Kounen
became an apprentice. He details the many other plants and foods that
are part of the ayahuasca healer’s medicine cabinet, such as toé ¡nd
tobacco, as well as their icaros, or healing songs. A veritable “what
to expect” guide, this book should be your first step prior to
committing to ayahuasca.

SEALING
OF THE FIVE SENSES:
Advanced
Practices for Becoming a Taoist Immortal
By
Mantak Chia and William U. Wei
Paperback:

Destiny Books; Reprint edition (December 19, 2014)

An
illustrated guide to follow the path to the Immortal Tao-
- Reveals the 9 inner alchemy formulas for the Sealing of the Five Senses practice, including strengthening the senses and activating the Thrusting Channels
- Explores how abuse of the senses leads to energy loss and degradation, for example, listening too much hurts the mind
- Explains how to transmute warm chi into energy for the immortal spirit body, created through mastery of the three Kan and Li practices
In
ancient times, the Sealing of the Five Senses involved both Taoist
Inner Alchemy and physical sealing of the sensory organs to prepare
the master for extended periods of astral travel and meditation,
during which he would remain completely motionless for years at a
time. In modern times, physical sealing of the senses with wax is no
longer required; however, in order to accumulate profound energy and
gather cosmic light for the immortal spirit body one must stop the
energy losses that occur through the senses.
In
this guide to energetic sealing of the senses, Master Mantak Chia and
William Wei reveal the 9 inner alchemy formulas for the Sealing of
the Five Senses practice, including strengthening the senses,
connecting the senses to the organs, activating the Thrusting
Channels, and harnessing the energies of the Big Dipper and the North
Star. They explain how to stop energy losses through the five senses
and transmute warm chi into energy for the immortal spirit body. The
authors explore the importance of proper diet and eating habits in
this practice, providing striking examples of World War II
concentration camp survivors who were able to obtain energy from
chewing water.
Revealing
the benefits of Sealing the Five Senses for non-Immortals, the
authors explain how abuse of the senses leads to energy loss and
degradation, for example, listening too much hurts the mind and
crying too much harms your blood. They show how sealing the senses
allows one to create the Crystal Room cauldron, where fire and water
energy can couple to generate a superior essence used to achieve
greater awareness and “steam” all the body’s major organ
systems.
An
advanced practice for those who have mastered the three Kan and Li
practices, the Sealing of the Five Senses is the final step on the
Taoist path to Immortality.

"I've
been reading Tarot for more than thirty years, and reading
professionally at the Edge for a decade. My belief is that Tarot is
best used for putting you in touch with your own subconscious,
allowing you to make healthy decisions that can change your life for
the better. My readings tend to be rather commonsensical. They are
often geared toward helping the client deal with the often
self-imposed obstacles in their lives in a healthy, self –affirming
