Exploring the Celtic Otherworld
By Danu Forest
Series: Shaman Pathways
Paperback: 94 pages
Publisher: Moon Books (January
7, 2014)

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Covering the basics of Celtic
shamanism, with reference to traditional lore and source materials through the
lens of both ancient and modern Druidry and shamanic practice, The Druid Shaman
is a well rounded guide, showing the seamless cross over between Druidry and
shamanism in the Celtic tradition. It covers topics such as how to attain and
work with guides and allies, understanding the spirit realm and interaction
with spirits of all kinds, accessing powers of place, traveling the world tree
and working with the seven directions and exploring and navigating within the
Celtic Otherworld. With practical techniques, exercises and core skills, The
Druid Shaman can be used as a practical manual as well as a valuable resource
for practicing shamans and druids as well as those new to the subject.
REVIEW:
A sound, practical introduction
to a complex and wide-ranging subject. Danu Forest's guidance chimes closely
with my own experience of working with spirits over many years. Integrating
folk traditions, literary sources and archaeology with contemporary practice,
Danu combines visually strong and spiritually apposite ideas with sensitive
advice concerning our relations with spirit, as well as working with sacred
sites. As Danu says, how we perceive the spirits we connect with as Druids does
make a difference. Having been plugging the notion of Druidry as the native
'shamanic' tradition of Britain and Europe since 1974, it's good to see that
it's increasingly catching on, not only amongst fellow Druids, but also amongst
archaeologists. I believe we are heading in a direction that links us very firmly
with the spirit of ancient Druidry. This is what I call rekindling the sacred
fire of Druidry, and I believe Danu Forest's 'The Druid Shaman' will play a
part in this rekindling.
--Philip Shallcrass - 'Greywolf' Chief of the British Druid
Order.

Bless me, curse me.
For better or worse,
my fallopian fall into matter. . .
After making careful preparations to
ensure himself a proper reincarnation,
the dying
ALEISTER CROWLEY
flubs one syllable of the magickal
incantation . . .
and comes back as
ELMER FUDD.
After making
careful preparations to ensure himself a proper reincarnation, the dying
Aleister Crowley flubs one syllable of the magickal incantation…and comes back
as Elmer Fudd.
The pictures
David Aronson did before getting sick are black and white. They take Crowley
from his death, through his judgement in the Hall of the Divine Kings, and stop
just as he is being sucked into Looney Tunes Land.
At that point,
Nick Patterson takes over, and the color is switched on. It’s like the old
movie, when Dorothy gets out of Kansas and arrives in Oz. The different style
of pictures announces the big change in scene.

The Pin Is

"Denise
Alvarado is a true hoodoo mamba home girl who burned hi-octane conjure in New
Orleans where she grew up, and on visits to relatives in the Mississippi
bayous, where she was formally introduced to the Voodoo/hoodoo path. Called by
the spirits and taught conjuration by family members, she was working the
goofer from five years old. That's some serious heat. Denise is no pretender.
She's for real. She fixes the formulas, raises the spirits, calculates the
mathematics, and works wonders at the old dirt track crossroads." -Doktor
Snake, author of Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook
When it comes to
Voodoo, few things are more iconic than the Voodoo doll. Known also as conjure
dolls, doll babies, dollies, baby dolls, poppets, fetich, fetish, and effigies,
they are servants of fast-acting, long-lasting magic. If you are seeking a new
job or new friends, need to find your one true love or keep your lover at home,
wish to be rid of your enemies or protect yourself from thievery, in these
pages you will find the doll and the spell to do just that and more.
Drawing not only
on New Orleans Voodoo and hoodoo traditions, Alvarado also presents doll
spellwork from ancient Greece, Egypt, Malaysia, Japan, Africa, and the European
grimoires of old magic. You'll learn how to make, use, and properly dispose of
your Voodoo doll.
Be warned: this
is some of the most effective magic that exists so be ready to reap what you
are about to sow, or in this case, sew!
