THEBAN ORACLE:
Discover
the Magic of the Ancient Alphabet
That Changes Lives
By
Greg Jenkins PhD
Paperback: 256 pages
Publisher: Weiser Books (May 1, 2014)
List Price: $18.95
FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Based on the ancient magical writings of 14th-century magus,
Honorius of Thebes, the Theban Oracle is a codex employed for centuries as a
means of devotion and divination. Used by such masters of the occult sciences
as Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, Dr. John Dee, Francis Barrett, and later Gerald
Gardner, it has remained relatively obscure and elusive to the modern
practitioner. Until now.
In this book, author Greg Jenkins, PhD, offers both the
complete history of this medieval magical system and a working manual for the
modern mage to utilize it. In these pages, you'll find:
- How to make and care for your own set of stones.
- A variety of methods for divination, from using just one stone to using nine stones and more.
- How to use the Theban stones for spellcasting, including love and purification spells and Theban incense and candle magick.
- A complete lexicon of the Theban alphabet with a who's who of Theban history along with divinatory meanings and how they relate to the modern world.
- A quick reference to the sacred herbs and angelic orders associated with each symbol.
Prepare yourself to discover the hidden mysteries of the
ancients and the magick within you.

OSOGBO:
Speaking
to the Spirits of Misfortune
By
Ócha'ni Lele
Paperback: 240 pages
Publisher: Destiny Books; 1 edition (March 21, 2014)
List Price: $16.95
FROM THE PUBLISHER:
By understanding osogbo, the spirits of misfortune, we can
better overcome them and return to health and balance in our lives
• Explains how misfortune works in this world as living
spirits that plague humanity but are also a catalyst for self-development and
conscious evolution
• Shows that we can overcome osogbo through ebó, sacrifice,
and hard work as prescribed by consulting the orishas through the casting of
the diloggún
• Shares more than 40 ancient African sacred stories about
the spirits of osogbo
Beginning with the story of his goddaughter's battle with
stage IV cancer, Lucumi priest Ócha'ni Lele explains the role of osogbo, or
misfortune, in our lives. While everyone seeks blessings in life, undeserved
blessings make us weak and lazy. It is tragedy that encourages us to grow and
persevere. Exploring the Lucumà beliefs regarding osogbo, he shows that the
Lucumà faith is neither fatalistic nor defeatist but healing and life
affirming. He shares more than 40 patakÃs--stories stemming from the ancient
Yoruba of West Africa--about the different spirits of osogbo, who like the
orishas once walked the earth in human bodies. He explains the place of these
spirits within the 256 odu of the diloggún, the divination system used in
SanterÃa to receive guidance from the orishas.
Lele shows that the spirits of osogbo are not only concepts
but also real deities and that we can, if we understand their nature, fight
them through ebó, sacrifice, and hard work. He reveals how the osogbos see
themselves as entities of misfortune who stand against life and all that is
good in the world, but in truth it is misfortune that strengthens us,
misfortune that motivates us, and misfortune that brings great evolution to the
world. As the author shows, “Without bitterness, one could not know sweetness.”
Likewise, without misfortune in our lives, we would never know blessings or
what it means to be blessed.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Ócha’ni Lele has been immersed in the underground culture of
orisha worship since 1989. He made Ocha in 2000 and was crowned a priest of
Oya. His other books include Sacrificial Ceremonies of SanterÃa, Diloggún Tales
of the Natural World, Teachings of the SanterÃa Gods, The Secrets of Afro-Cuban
Divination, ObÃ: Oracle of Cuban SanterÃa, and The Diloggún: The Orishas,
Proverbs, Sacrifices, and Prohibitions of Cuban SanterÃa. He lives in Winter
Park, Florida.

UNCOMMONSENSE
TAROT
Tarot
readings by Erica (Raven) Branch-Butler
"I've been reading Tarot for more than thirty years,
and reading professionally at the Edge for a decade. My belief is that Tarot is
best used for putting you in touch with your own subconscious, allowing you to
make healthy decisions that can change your life for the better. My readings
tend to be rather commonsensical. They are often geared toward helping the
client deal with the often self-imposed obstacles in their lives in a healthy,
self –affirming way, so that they can achieve their goals and fully enjoy the
fruits that life has to bring."
Please inquire about Tarot Parties, classes and other
