NEW JEWELRY
FROM GREECE, NEW JEWELRY!
You may or may not remember three years ago, when Edge of the Circle Books had jewelry from Greece, with images of the gods, based on ancient coins. Well, we got a bunch of it back in stock. Of course the prices have all gone up (with the rise in the cost of silver), and the line tends to be expensive anyway, but this stuff is really nice.
Dionysus/Bacchus & phallic Satyr coin pendant
List Price: $79.50 -
SICILY, Naxos AR Tetradrachm Circa 461-430 BC
This fine pendant was made from skilled artisans specialized at creating Ancient themed jewelry. By employing the highest possible level of skill in
ancient artifact representation, our workshop is known for it's outstanding silver and gold reproductions of antiquities since 1928 among coin enthusiasts worldwide. We consistently utilize a number of ancient
silversmithing and hand-made techniques in order to match the clarity andquality of ancient craftsmanship in our own silver. Ancient coins cannot be
reproduced so finely any other way.
obverse:
The coin is characterized by collectors as one of the most celebrated coins from antiquity and a masterpiece of an engraving. Originals are valued from $15,000.00 (EU €10,520.90) - $30,000.00 (EU €21,041.80) depending on condition.
Bearded head of Dionysos right, wearing wreath of ivy, hair tied in bunch behind head. Legend reads N-AXI-ON, nude and ithyphallic Silenos squatting facing left.
The Greek god Dionysus, (also spelt Dionysos or known as Bacchus to Romans) was known as the god that liberated man from his normal self through madness, ecstasy and wine. Dionysus/Bacchus was widely celebrated at wild intoxicating festivals. According to Nietzsche this indulging expression of man was absolutely necessary in order to counter and balance the Apollonian spirit which was man's outgoing self, albeit trapped within his morals. The cult Dionysus, son of Zeus and Semeli is also symbolized by the phallus and the erect satyr.
Dimensions : Diameter (excluding bails): Metric: 2.3 cm Inches: approx 0.9" Material: Sterling Silver

Athens tetradrachm, Athena & Wise Owl
- coin pendant
List Price: $67.50 -
Athena Tetradrachm originally minted 431-413 BC and depicting the wise owl.
The inscription reads ΑΘΕ, a monogram attributed to the goddess Athena (ΑΘΗΝΑ), the virgin godess of wisdom, who was also the protectress of the
city of Athens. Head of Athena right, wearing round earring and crested Attic helmet ornamented with three olive leaves above visor and spiral palmette on bowl. Almond shaped eye as in archaic depictions of the goddess.
The illuminating and yet detached glare of Athena's owl, a sacred symbol in ancient Greece have been magnificently captured and portrayed by skilled craftsmen, specialized and distinguished in crafting reproductions representations of significant ancient, historical and religious artifacts and themes.
The significance of the owl was the virtue of Wisdom. The owl was
usually depicted accompanying Athena (Roman Minerva), the all important virgin Godess to whom perhaps the most significa nt shrine of classical antiquity, the Parthenon, was built in honor of. Her worship peaked during the golden age of Pericles 461 BC to 379 BC. It was during this inspiring age of wisdom that philosophy, architecture, medicine, theatre and the arts were first established as fabric to society, to set grounds for an array of social fundaments as they are today, whilst the radical concept of 'democracy' was also first fostered.
Size:
Diameter 22 mm (0.86 inch) without bail. Length 31.5 mm (1.24 inch)
including bails. Material: 925 Sterling Silver Weight: Aprox 8.5 grams

LUCIFER'S REBELLION: A TRIBUTE TO CHRISTOPHER HYATT
By Chic and Tabatha Cicero , Israel Regardie , Lon Milo DuQuette , David Cherubim , James Wasserman , S. Jason Black , Robert Anton Wilson ,Timothy Leary , Shelley Marmor (Editor)
Paperback: 292 pages
Publisher: New Falcon Publications (January 13, 2011)
List Price: $21.95
BOOK BLURB:
Edited with a Foreword by Shelley Marmor;
To say Christopher S. Hyatt, Ph.D. will not ever have mass appeal is an understatement. If anything, the masses detest him en masse. And rightfully so. His radical approach to self-transformation doesn t come sugarcoated or gift wrapped. Rather, Dr. Hyatt exposes every hypocrisy and forces his readers to face themselves as they are--not as they wish to be.
In the world of Dr. Hyatt we formulate our ideas of ourselves and the world around us based on accumulated lies (aka traditions) taught to us since childhood. As a result, each person comes to believe in a fictitious I solely based on the liars in our lives regurgitating their lies onto us. "We are all handicapped by our traditions and conclusions," according to Dr. Hyatt. Heroically, and luckily for many of us, he does offer a way out.
Though he passed away in 2008, his take-no-prisoners approach to self-actualization lives on. The articles contained in this book--some selected by Dr. Hyatt himself--are written by authors who carry the torch of the Doctor s great work, including Chic and Tabatha Cicero, Peter Conte, Jack S. Willis, Daniel Pineda, Nicole Laliberte, and Dr. Hyatt s son. Some of the articles are written by his friends and colleagues: Israel Regardie, James Wasserman, Lon Milo DuQuette, David Cherubim, S. Jason Black, Robert Brazil, Wayne Saalman, Robert Anton Wilson and Timothy Leary.
This book is a treasure trove of sanity wrapped in the garment of madness.

GRIMOIRES: A HISTORY OF MAGIC BOOKS
by Owen Davies
Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Oxford University Press, USA (December 1, 2010)
List Price: $17.95
BOOK BLURB:
No books have been more feared than grimoires, and no books have been more valued and revered. In Grimoires: A History of Magic Books, Owen Davies illuminates the many fascinating forms these recondite books have taken and exactly what these books held. At their most benign, these repositories of forbidden knowledge revealed how to make powerful talismans and protective amulets, and provided charms and conjurations for healing illness, finding love, and warding off evil. But other books promised the power to control innocent victims, even to call up the devil. Davies traces the history of this remarkably resilient and adaptable genre, from the ancient Middle East to modern America, offering a new perspective on the fundamental developments of western civilization over the past two thousand years. Grimoires shows the influence magic and magical writing has had on the cultures of the world, richly demonstrating the role they have played in the spread of Christianity, the growth of literacy, and the influence of western traditions from colonial times to the present.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Owen Davies is Reader in Social History at the University of Hertfordshire. His previous books include The Haunted: A Social History of Ghosts; Murder, Magic, Madness: The Victorian Trials of Dove and the Wizard; and Cunning-folk: Popular Magic in English History.

HOWLINGS FROM THE PIT
A PRACTICAL HANDBOOK OF MEDIEVAL MAGIC, GOETIA & THEURGY
by Joseph C. Lisiewski, Ph.D.
Introduction & Commentary by Mark Stavish
Afterword by David Rankine
New Falcon Publications/The Original Falcon Press; 1st edition (April 11, 2011)
Product Information: 288pgs
List Price: $18.95
FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Howlings from the Pit may be Dr. Lisiewski's finest work to date. For both the beginning and advanced students of occultism, it lays bare what practical magic is all about. A veritable modern magical 'grammar,' Howlings takes the reader step-by-step through the mental, psychological and physical preparations required by the 'Fathers of the Grimoires', the authors of the classical books on ceremonial magic which include The Heptameron, The Lesser and Greater Keys of Solomon, The Sword of Moses and others. Lisiewski clarifies dozens of technical points critical to successful magical operations, including the most feared and desired one: evoking a spirit to physical manifestation. Alchemy, mysticism and even modern Science of Mind and New Thought are all examined in their relationship to Medieval magic.
In addition, Mark Stavish's editing and extensive commentary on the original text, places the material in the context of the magical and philosophical traditions of both East and West, thereby adding valuable insight into the nature of magic as a living tradition.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Joseph C. Lisiewski, Ph.D. is a noted physicist involved in the study of the Relativistic SpaceTime Continuum, and the new physics that is exploring possibility of physical time travel. A personal friend and student of both Israel Regardie and the famous Alchemist, Frater Albertus for many years, his numerous published papers on both of their teachings, and on his own forty years of practice in both Magic and Alchemy, has helped many along their own Paths.
Mark Stavish is the Director of Studies for the Institute for Hermetic Studies and is a life-long student of esotericism with over 30 years experience in comparative religion, philosophy, psychology, and mysticism with emphasis on Traditional Western Esotericism. He is the author of four books, "The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing and the World of Natural Magic", "Kabbalah for Health and Wellness", "Freemasonry: Rituals, Symbols and History of the Secret Society", and "Between the Gates: Lucid Dreaming, Astral Projection and the Body of Light in Western Esotericism". His articles have appeared in numerous academic and mass market publications specializing in spiritual studies.

UNCOMMONSENSE TAROT
Tarot readings by Erica (Raven) Branch-Butler
" I've been reading Tarot for more than thirty years, and reading professionally
at the Edge for a decade. My belief is that Tarot is best used for
putting you in touch with your own subconscious, allowing you to make healthy
decisions that can change your life for the better. My readings tend to be
rather commonsensical (hence the name) and are geared toward helping the client
circumvent the often self-imposed obstacles in their lives, so that they can
achieve their goals and fully enjoy the fruits that life has to bring."
