NEW BOOKS:

THE GRIMOIRE OF ST. CYPRIAN - CLAVIS INFERNI
Stephen Skinner & David Rankine

NEW, LIMITED EDITION
List Price: $65.00
Publisher : Golden Hoard Press
Publication : September 2009
Pages : 96 pages, 176mm x 250mm, 11 full colour illustrations,
1 table

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
The Grimoire of St. Cyprian - There have been many grimoires attributed to St. Cyprian of Antioch due to his reputation as a consummate magician before his conversion to Christianity, but perhaps none so intriguing as the present manuscript. This unique manuscript (unlike the more rustic examples attributed to St Cyprian of the Black Books of Wittenburg as found in Scandinavia, or the texts disseminated under his name in Spain and Portugal) is directly in line with the Solomonic tradition, and therefore relevant to our present series of Sourceworks of the Ceremonial Magic.

It is unique in that instead of being weighed down with many prayers and
conjurations it addresses the summoning and use of both the four Archangels,
Michael, Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel as well as their opposite numbers, the four
Demon Kings, Paymon, Maimon, Egyn and Oriens. The later are shown in their
animal and human forms along with their sigils, a resource unique amongst
grimoires.

The text is in a mixture of three magical scripts, Greek, Hebrew, cipher, Latin,
(and reversed Latin) with many contractions and shortforms, but expanded and
made plain by the editors. The title of the manuscript, Clavis Inferni sive
magia alba et nigra approbata Metratona, literally means `The Key of Hell with
white and black magic as proven by Metatron'.

FROM THE PUBLISHER:

Diabolical is a radical collection of texts from a cabal of writers and artists
exposing their work with the grimoires, from the Testament of Solomon to Liber
231. The Grimoire tradition is being reinvigorated in the living practice of the
carcists, magicians and sorcerors who dare to work with these books. These
individuals meet for the first time within the pages of our newest title,
Diabolical and give tongue to their excursions into these texts and others:

Those of us who do this work, regardless of whether we trepass amongst the
angels or daemons, are often slandered as diabolical. Our books are also regarded as diabolical, being incomprehensible, demonic and without spiritual or practical value. We throw this back at our accusers by demonstrating that these books are more complex than black and white theology allows, and as repositories of forbidden knowledge are worth their weight in gold. This is where the spirits lie.

We are upholding our side of the pact and continuing to produce the most
groundbreaking and relevant titles of the modern occult revival. To this end,
Scarlet Imprint have convened an international cabal of writers and artists from
England, Poland, Holland, Sweden, Spain, Brazil, Canada and America.

Our writers for this project are:

Jake Stratton-Kent
Eric de Pauw
Aaron Leitch
Paul Hughes-Barlow

THE WAY OF THE CRUCIBLE

~ Robert Bartlett (Author)
List Price: List Price: $26.50
Paperback: 332 pages
Publisher: Spagyricus (April 24, 2008)

FROM THE PUBLISHER:
Our first book, Real Alchemy, provides a glimpse into the general theory and
practices surrounding the Art of Alchemy as handed down in the Western World.
This second work delves more deeply into "the why of the how" behind laboratory
alchemy and elaborates greater detail on some of the mineral works of Alchemy
both ancient and modern. Herein you will find a wealth of information concerning
the practical art and science of alchemy that makes this arcane subject
accessible to the modern student.

BOOK BLURB:
Alchemy is the ancient sacred science concerned with the mysteries of life and
consciousness as reflected through all Nature. It is a harmonious blending of
physical and subtle forces which lifts the subject, whether it be man or metal,
to a more evolved state of being. The Way of the Crucible is a ground-breaking
modern manual on the art of Alchemy that draws on both modern scientific
technology and ancient methods. A laboratory scientist and chemist, Bartlett
provides an overview of how practical alchemy works along with treatises on
Astrology, Qabalah, Herbalism, and minerals, as they relate to Alchemy. He also
explains what the ancients really meant when they used the term "Philosopher's
Stone" and describes practical methods toward its achievement. The Way of the
Crucible provides directions for a more advanced understanding of the mineral
work — what some consider the true domain of Alchemy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Bartlett has been a practicing alchemist for over thirty years and was a student
of the twentieth century's most highly recognized alchemist, Frater Albertus, at
Paracelsus College. After receiving his degree in Chemistry, Bartlett was
appointed Chief Chemist at Frater Albertus' Paralab. He is a member of the
International Alchemy Guild at the Adept Level. He is an Instructor in Spagyrics
at Flamel College Online through www.Alchemylab.com .

THE BOOK OF TREASURE SPIRITS  ~ David Rankine
List Price: $24.99
Paperback: 184 pages
Publisher: Avalonia (September 1, 2009)

BOOK BLURB:
Conjurations of Goetic spirits, old gods, demons and fairies are all part of a rich heritage of the magical search for treasure trove. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance the British Monarchy gave out licenses to
people seeking treasure in an effort to control such practices, and this is one reason why so many grimoires are full of conjurations and charms to help the magician find treasure.

Published here for the first time, from a long-ignored mid-seventeenth century
manuscript in the British Library (Sloane MS 3824), is the conjuration said to
have been performed at the request of King Edward IV, with other rites to reveal
treasure, to have treasure brought from the sea, and to cause thieves to bring
back stolen goods. Conjurations to call any type of spirit are also included,
recorded by the noted alchemist and collector Elias Ashmole, as is an extract on
conjuration practices from the Heptameron, transcribed into English for
practical use by a working group of magicians, before its first English
publication by Robert Turner in 1655.

These conjurations demonstrate the influence of earlier classic grimoires and
sources, with components drawn from the Goetia, the Heptameron, and Reginald
Scot's Discoverie of Witchcraft.

The material includes spirit contracts for Agares, Padiel and Vassago, as well
as techniques like lead plates for binding, and summoning into a glass of water,
which hark back to the defixiones of Hellenistic Greece and the demonic magic of
the Biblical world. This material forms part of a corpus of conjurations all
written in the same hand and style of evocation, linking Goetic spirits and
treasure spirits with the archangels and planetary intelligences (in Sloane MS
3825), and demon kings and Enochian hierarchies (in Sloane MS 3821), making it a
unique bridge of style and content between what are often falsely seen as
diverse threads of Renaissance magic.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR :
David Rankine is an occult scholar and author of more than 20 books on the
subject of magic, the western esoteric traditions, folklore and mythology. Since
the 1970's he has been researching and exploring magical and spiritual practices
throughout history; a journey which has taken him from ancient Sumeria,
Babylonia and Egypt through Greece, Rome and Britain through the middle ages and
rennaisance and the modern Western Mystery Traditions. With Stephen Skinner he
has produced works such as The Veritable Key of Solomon and the Goetia of Dr
Rudd, both highly regarded groundbreaking works which make available previously
unpublished source materials for the first time.

YYGGSSBOK: A BOLD NEW RUNIC VISION
by Charles Harris
List Price: $27.95
Paperback: 392 pages
Publisher: AuthorHouse (April 18, 2005)

Book Blurb:
This book is a blinding lightning strike to the ways and traditions of the Northern peoples and the magic of the runes. It is an absolute mental and spiritual aviking to uncharted waters and hitherto unexplored territory. This
book introduces such a scope of new metaphysical and Runic concepts, that in the near future, a new era of magical thought will be defined by its
publication!!Not only does Yyggssbok define the twelve elements of the Runes,
but it presents the most complete, poetic, and powerful version of the Norse
cosmology that has as of yet been written. The Runic Poem presented as a
synthesis of traditional lore bound to the foundations of the new, is perhaps
the most powerful, beautiful, and intelligent runic poem ever written for
Northern practitioners. The great hallmark of this work is a description and
analysis of the two energies of magic and their role in the evolution and
progression of the human soul. Never has such a depth of understanding been
applied to such a complex and elusive subject as reincarnation and the function
of magic via the mind-body-soul of man. The lore of the runes takes a radical
evolutionary leap of many decades and is presented as a further unfolding of the
thoughts of the greats such as Aswynn, Pennick, and Thorsson. The Runic ways may
just have found a way to reclaim the natural evolution and progression that was
cut short by the violent conversion of the Northlands by the Church!!!This book
is of such importance that Freya Aswynn has made it the required reading for her
advanced magical students. In Freya's own words, "I honestly support his (Ulf's)
claim that it (Yyggssbok) has been inspired by Odin himself. I recognize His paw
prints all over the place."

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Ulf Asgardson is a child of the South and has been a wanderer and gypsy across
parts of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and
Kentucky. Since 1990 he has been on a quest to acquire magical knowledge and to
find some great mentor and teacher from which to learn the secrets of magic.
Despite his 15- year search, unfortunately no great master was found to pass
down the arcane secrets. In April of 2003, Ulf was weeks from being hired
full-time at a major semiconductor manufacturing plant in Durham, North
Carolina. This position would have provided benefits and an excellent salary.
However, in dismay, he watched as for no apparent reason he reached his right
hand into the moving pulley of a large air-handling unit that he was servicing.
This accident crushed three fingers of his right hand, and more importantly, it
crushed his goals, hopes, and dreams and plummeted him into severe depression
and anger.Alone in his room, he challenged the Runes and the Gods to prove that
all of these years of study were not just lies and delusion. He challenged the
Runes themselves to prove that the Great Secrets indeed exist. To his extreme
shock, not only did the Runes reply, but they screamed their answers at him.
Within minutes of the challenge a vision unfolded within his imagination that
demonstrated the very creation of the universe and the dance of Fire and Ice.
Over the next 9 months, the visions continued, and this book was born. This is
the book that Freya Aswynn has declared " is the Runic Equivalent of Aleister
Crowley's 'Magick in Theory and Practice'". The Runes have spoken, and Ulf is
extremely pleased to be the messenger to bring this Revolution in magic to his
people.

THE ELIXIR OF IMMORTALITY:
A MODERN-DAY ALCHEMISTS DISCOVERY
OF THE PHILOSOPHERS STONE
(Harvard English Studies)
~ Robert E. Cox
List Price: $16.95
Paperback: 208 pages
Publisher: Inner Traditions (September 9, 2009)

BOOK BLURB:
A modern-day quest that echoes the ancient alchemists' work to discover the
elixir of life

• Provides an overview of alchemical practices in the ancient world--from Europe
to China

• Reveals the alchemical secrets for creating this elixir in clear scientific
language

In 1989, while attempting to extract precious minerals from his property, a
wealthy Arizonan obtained a mysterious white material that initially defied
scientific attempts to identify it. After several years of testing, this
substance was revealed to consist of gold and platinum--but in a form unknown to
modern science. Further research showed that this powder, which had also been
discovered to possess marvelous healing powers, contained monatomic forms of
precious metals whose electron units had been altered to no longer display the
physical, chemical, or electrical properties of the original elements. This
substance, Robert Cox shows, bears eerie resemblance to the ultimate quest of
the alchemists: the elixir of immortality.

The mysterious material-spiritual science of alchemy was once pervasive
throughout the ancient world, spanning the globe from China and India to Egypt
and medieval Europe. In The Elixir of Immortality, Robert Cox reviews the
alchemical lore of these traditions and the procedures each used to produce this
fabulous elixir. Using his own alchemical research, Cox then reveals secrets
that have been kept hidden for millennia uncovered in his own modern-day quest
to rediscover this long-sought elixir of life.

THE RETURN OF THE DEAD:
GHOSTS, ANCESTORS, AND THE TRANSPARENT VEIL OF THE PAGAN MIND

by Claude Lecouteux
List Price: $19.95
Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Inner Traditions (July 24, 2009)

BOOK BLURB:
How the ghost stories of pagan times reveal the seamless union existing between the world of the living and the afterlife

• Demonstrates how Medieval Christianity transformed the more corporeal ghost
encountered in pagan cultures with the disembodied form known today

• Explains how the returning dead were once viewed as either troublemakers or
guarantors of the social order

The impermeable border the modern world sees existing between the world of the
living and the afterlife was not visible to our ancestors. The dead could--and
did--cross back and forth at will. The pagan mind had no fear of death, but some
of the dead were definitely to be dreaded: those who failed to go peacefully
into the afterlife but remained on this side in order to right a wrong that had
befallen them personally or to ensure that the law promoted by the ancestors was
being respected. But these dead individuals were a far cry from the amorphous
ectoplasm that is featured in modern ghost stories. These earlier visitors from
beyond the grave--known as revenants--slept, ate, and fought like men, even
when, like Klaufi of the Svarfdaela Saga, they carried their heads in their
arms.

Revenants were part of the ancestor worship prevalent in the pagan world and
still practiced in indigenous cultures such as the Fang and Kota of equatorial
Africa, among others. The Church, eager to supplant this familial faith with its
own, engineered the transformation of the corporeal revenant into the
disembodied ghost of modern times, which could then be easily discounted as a
figment of the imagination or the work of the devil. The sanctified grounds of
the church cemetery replaced the burial mounds on the family farm, where the
ancestors remained as an integral part of the living community. This exile to
the formal graveyard, ironically enough, has contributed to the great loss of
the sacred that characterizes the modern world.
