NEW BOOKS:

 LEGION 49
by Barry William Hale

Birthed from strange and ancient larvae, the demon Beelzebub is often heard but seldom seen. His presence throughout history is fleeting, sudden, ever evasive. Even in the light of modern studies, references to the ‘God of Ekron’ are scant and largely academic.

Barry William Hale has nurtured an early fascination with the order Diptera to develop a buzzing, post-modern grimoire-bestiarum. Drawn from many years practical experience working with Beelzebub and his servitors, Legion 49 provides us with a rare glimpse of ‘the Lord of the Flies’ and the dark quintessence of his Legion. In a series of short, de-constructionist essays the artist explores traditional methods of evocation and the myths surrounding Beelzebub, before providing an iconographical and sigillic recension of his horde of forty-nine servitors, glimpsed through the protective-symmetry of the paper-cut traditions of old Mexico.

Legion 49 is a fusion of styles, influences and approaches, the modern and ancient, direct and indirect, refined and raw: it seeks to capture for a moment that flitting, fleeting, Chaotic gnosis symbolised by the Lord of Flies.

BOOK BLURB:
"There can be no doubt as to the importance Giordano Bruno's life and writings had on the western esoteric tradition and the history of scientific thought. With this in mind, Ouroboros Press is pleased to be issuing the first English translation of Giordano Bruno's Cantus Circaeus, rendered from the original Latin by Darius Klein. Originally printed in Paris 1582, the eloquence of Klein's English translation is fitting for the words of the Nolan.
"To one who is about to behold the Daughter of the Sun, she who is learned in magical lore, and who comes forth from the hidden places; you shall go as a free man into the House of Circe, not bound by the fetters of Night." From Giordano Bruno; Cantus Circaeus.”

“In the beginning of his Cantus Circaeus, Bruno portrays the doctrine of correspondence as used with the seven planetary invocations, which are themselves tokens of praxis in the Hermetic tradition. The incantatory litanies include the names, attributes, plants, stones, animals and other qualities associated with the astral bodies, and are thus memory palaces of planetary arcana. Through dialogue, Circe and her assistant Moeris, explicate the use of images in the imagination in order to facilitate use of the Art of Memory which constitutes the latter half of the text."

 THE SORCERER'S SECRETS:
STRATEGIES IN PRACTICAL MAGICK
by Jason Miller

Paperback: 224 pages
Publisher: New Page Books (August 20, 2009)
List Price: $15.99

BOOK BLURB:
This book is about real magick, effecting real change, in a real world.

There are some books on magick that teach it purely as spiritual advancement. Others teach it as a form of psychological self-help that effects only inner change. While magick can and should be both of these, it is also something more. The Sorcerer's Secrets is about success in practical magick; it is a book that aims at changing both the outer and inner worlds.

Beyond a mere spell book or training course, The Sorcerer's Secrets is a field manual on successful sorcery written by a professional sorcerer. The first part of the book lays out the qualities, concepts, and exercises necessary to attempt practical magick. The second part presents clear strategies for tackling almost any type of issue with sorcery.

You will learn how to:

* Attack problems from multiple angles, not just by casting a spell.

* Blend mundane and magickal action to ensure success.

* Figure out whether what you are doing is working, and fix it if it isn't.

* Go beyond readings, into magickal intelligence-gathering.

* Influence the minds of other people.

* Work most effectively on behalf of others.

The Sorcerer's Secrets will help rescue the art of Magick from those who have ignored, downplayed, or just outright denied the existence of practical sorcery in favor of arcane titles, intangible results, and fantasy attainments.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jason Miller (Inominandum) has devoted the last 20 years to studying magick in its many forms. He has traveled to New Orleans to study Hoodoo, Europe to study Witchcraft and Ceremonial Magick, and Nepal to study Tantra. Miller is a member of the Chthonic Ouranian Temple and the Sangreal Sodality, as well as an initiated Tantrika in the Nyingma and Bon lineages of Tibet. He is the author of Protection & Reversal Magick: A Witch's Defense Manual and the Strategic Sorcery blog. He is also a regular contributor to Behutet magazine. Miller lives with his wife on the New Jersey shore, where he practices and teaches magick professionally.

BLURB:
"In Search of the Great Beast 666" documents the chilling life, impulses and journey of Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), one of the most controversial and mysterious characters of the 20th Century; infamously known as "The Wickedest Man in the World."

Voiced by acting legend Joss Ackland (Watership Down, Lethal Weapon 2, White Mischief & The Hunt For Red October), this vivid portrayal unearths the barely believable and shocking facts surrounding this infamous Occultist, Spy, Poet, Dark Magician, Hedonist, Writer and accomplished Mountaineer. Was he related to US President George Bush? How was he connected to Scientology, Jack the Ripper, Winston Churchill, Hitler and Ian Fleming (creator of James Bond)? How did this man come to know so many remarkable people and why did he become the subject of fascination for generations of world-class musical icons?

Under various guises and camouflaged by pseudonyms, Crowley traveled the world in his quest for supreme knowledge and ultimate power through the Occult. He reveled in what some describe as acts of sexual decadence yet recognized by others as extreme depravity. His influence on modern culture is evident yet his reputation remains shrouded in a veil of infamy.

Through dramatically reconstructed period scenes, this biographical film explores the boundaries of the self appointed "Beast 666," a man who is not only said to have inspired the free-love movement, but also through his literature is notorious for replacing the Ten Commandments with just one: "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."
