OGAM: WEAVING WORD WISDOM (Paperback)

by Erynn Rowan Laurie (Author)

Paperback: 312 pages

Publisher: Megalithica Books (July 31, 2007)

List Price: $21.88

Book Blurb:

Ogam: Weaving Word Wisdom is a breakthrough in ogam divination and magical studies. Rather than working from the commonly known tree alphabet paradigm, Erynn Rowan Laurie takes us back to the roots of each letter's name, exploring its meanings in the context of Gaelic language and culture. Like the Norse runes, each letter is associated with an object or a concept -- "sulfur", "a bar of metal", "terror". These letters are deeply enmeshed in a web of meaning both cultural and spiritual, lending power and weight to their symbolism. With two decades of experience with the ogam and over thirty years of working with divination, Erynn offers insights into the many profound meanings hidden in the ogam letters and their lore. She explains each letter in context and shows how to expand the system in new and innovative ways while acknowledging and maintaining respect for ogam's traditional language and culture. In this book, you will find ways to use the ogam for divination, ideas on incorporating ogam into ritual, discussions of how ogam relates to Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism, and instructions for creating your own set of ogam feda or letters for your personal use.

Be sure to come to Erynn's book signing ( December 19th from 7PM – 9PM) at the store!

G. St M. Nottingham

Paperback

Midian Books (UK)

List Price: $14.95

This work explores the chymical wedding of the Red Man and the White Woman, alchemical terms for the marrying together of the plant, mineral or metal's mercury and sulphur. Through the process of alchemy a substance can be reduced to it's chaos; then separated, purified and rejoined together and exalted , thus making it more potent then it was before. This work explores this practice and enhances it with the judicious use of ritual magic. It takes you through the stages of making alchemical essences, tinctures and plant stones. This is a hands on practical manual of real alchemy and not an account of someone's psychological or sexual speculation on the subject.

In depth description: The Temple of High Witchcraft: Ceremonies, Spheres and The Witches' Qabalah

THE CRAFT MEETS HIGH MAGICK

Take your spiritual evolution to the next level by mastering the essentials of ceremonial magick. In this much-anticipated fourth volume in Christopher Penczak's award-winning series on witchcraft, he introduces the concepts of the Qabalah and the rituals of high magick, and explores the deeply interwoven relationship between these traditions and the Craft.

The teachings in this book correspond to the element of Air, guiding you into the realm of creative and critical thinking, communication, knowledge, and truth. Four preliminary chapters introduce the basic concepts, history, and skills you will need for your journey. Next, twelve formal lessons, in the witches' traditional year-and-a-day format, provide instruction in the fundamentals of ceremonial magic:

The Qabalah + The Tree of Life + Symbol and sigil magick + Elemental constructs

Qabalistic Cross + The four worlds and their correspondences + Middle Pillar

Pathworking + The Ritual of the Rosy Cross + Invoking and banishing rituals

Fluid condensers + Barbarous words of power, magickal constructs, and the Goetia

The book's thirteenth lesson culminates in a ritual initiation fusing the traditions of witchcraft and high magick—the creation of your own Reality Map. The cosmology you create will be based on your own spiritual experiences as well as the philosophies and practices of ceremonial magick.
